Ah the charm of Yello Belly LOL

My friend said I had to go at least once to 'experience' the place. Luckily it was a sedate day.

It was rough in the early 80's. I imagine it's gotten better since (sarcasm). If I remember correctly, there was a sign as you entered that said "No guns or Knives allowed on premises", or something like that.

This may have been covered before, it's been a long thread. But school me on the cost, Mopar vs. everyone else, to play the game. At a certain point, they aren't really a "brand" anymore, correct? If Big Chief can run an aftermarket Poncho block at 40-60 pounds boost and be competitive, there's no Mopar aftermarket block that will do the same thing? I just graduated from purple shaft cams and super stock springs to strokers, so I am only about 10-12 years behind the rest of the Mopar world. Oops. 20. I still have super stock springs.

Depends on what you want to call a Mopar I guess...BAE, AJ and others have Chrysler based stuff but it's all $40K and above. I think Stevie (Fast) Jackson called the Brad in his Mustang "an old Dodge"...

So what is Chevy or Pontiac based stuff in relation? $39k and below? Like I said, is there really any "brand" left in any of that stuff?

It's all big dollars to go that fast with any sort of reliability. Really the heads are the main differences. If you buy a Brodix 5" BS block, I think they only cast one head for it from Brodix. PB5000 or something? AJ and others will cast (carve?) blocks for a variety of aftermarket heads.

Big Chiefs block, will accept all stock exterior components. Heads, oil pan, timingcover, water pump, etc.
you aren’t going to be able to use a stock Chevy head on a pro line block, Or a BAE block.

So would it be safe to say Big Chief has the only stock dimensional base (aftermarket) block on that show?

Other than Shane’s Vega, I’d say yes.

Chuck and Shane both have small block Chevys, from the brief glimpse I have seen, they both appear to be factory style blocks.

Ummmmm...The Fireball Camaro has a Hemi in it...

As for cost its simple. There are simply not enough Mopar people willing to spend the money it takes to compete at that level. The ones that do use BAE stuff and boost. We do have one here FastMop who I believe is working on a BAE combo as well. Just not enough people. Chief is an exception on the No Prep front running a Pontiac, he obviously is a diehard Pontiac guy. Could a Mopar guy do it, certainly can they just have to want it bad enough.

They showed a quick shot of the Monza with no hood last night. It did not appear to be Mopar based. All he said was small block with spray.

Crowmod ran 6.20's at the NHRA race he entered. He was next to last on the Q sheet. Like 24 out of 25 cars. He had some tuning help for that race so it wasn't that he couldn't get that figured out. Stock type hardware just can't hang with big power.

He was limited to the amount of boost he could run. He was down about 15 psi for the rules.

My bad thought I had heard on here or somewhere it was a BAE deal. I see now it is one of the ubiquitous PLR deals, don't watch the show much and Ill admit that and being wrong for sure

All the NHRA turbo powered pro mod car are boost limited. And 1/2 second quicker and 30 MPH faster.

Birdman swapped over to a BAE Hemi in their Firebird a year or two ago.
