You cannot make blanket statements about how much front end travel a given car needs to work. Yes it is a generalization that more power generally needs less travel. However there are plenty of variables left that don't make that a universal statement. Track condition being one of the biggest, along with how free the suspension is account for any suspension binding, weight bias, power available, tire being used, etc etc...Each car will require a different set up and have its own unique requirements. I would not say a car making 700hp is in the realm of absolutely working with LESS front end travel. IMO as you get to 900+ then you can usually overcome the need for pitch rotation with power and leverage...For instance what works on Shilohs car will likely NOT work for Dom and vice versa. Both A bodies, both have Caltracs and both will require a different set up..

Don’t worry Morgan’s book has nothing on Caltrac tuning...

In my Belvedere I had 5 inch front end travel and QA-1 set on 5.
Rear bottom hole with QA-1 set on 5. Weight in driver seat I’d adjust driver side with width of a nickel gap, passenger side 2 flats preload. 1.39 60ft@ 3750 lbs
Morgans book is about tuning suspensions,it all has to work together. Now he can set his car up like yours and it will be fine.

That is about how I have mine set.Never messed with them,,,,,car was leaving straight and all attention was on the carbs and AFRs.
How does preloading help the 60 ft??,,,,,or does it?
