I dont have a decent picture but when I did the motor for the practice car for the NASCAR RETURNS TO LEMANS project(Christophe Schwartz and friends)because the car was a road racer and many of its miles would be on normal streets but under racing circumstances i didnt want a pan hanging down so i would get a phone call in the middle of the night. (Halfe mich, Don). I bought a Hemi repo pan brand new. I bought two 45 dergee bends of 2 1/2 inch od exhaust tubing. I sliced the bends so they fit on the side of the hemi pan but no longer than the sump. I made a large window in each side of the pan, flush at the bottom and then welded the slices of the bends on. I made sure the oil could get in an out easily but still had some baffeling at the ends. I cleaned it till i had nighmares about it and when i was satisfied I painted it and installed it with the Mopar windage tray. The block which is a 400 I had redrilled for a hemi pick up but I used the crooked short one from MP. Not the long straight one. It worked out perfect and has stood 3 years of abuse in Europe. It fits the stock chassis (72 Charger. ) and holds 7 QTZ. It meets the critieria of a Qt of oil for every 1000 RPM. That is my rule of thumb since I cammed this engine to make all its power under 6500 because if you dont finish you cant win. I think I would make myself one sometime for my max wedge car as well. I like the idea of having the extra capacity , having it stored away from the spinning crank and having no worries about hiting anything wth the oil pan no matter what happens.In my cruiser a 63 Dodge max Wedge 426 I have a homebuilt hanging down about 1 inch. It wuld be nice to have the same volume with out the worry of wacking the pan on something or hitting something left on the road like a big chunk of firewood or even a big racoon. Don

Sorry no pic but its nothing trick, a few holes on the wall that goes across the pan then on the rear side of the wall is just a flat plate with a wire for a top hinge. The plate lays flush against the wall to seal off the holes when the oil sloshes forward on braking , swings open on acceleration

well, what i was really curious about, was if there's a stop of some sort to keep the trap door from going past 90*. i would think that it would be a nessisity(sp) to keep the door from being held open by oil sloshing back towards the front.

Yes. Mine has the hinge pin that extends out and is bent such that it only allows it to open so far. I do not have a picture of it.
