Found a deal on a new 4 and 3/8" stroke RB crank with 2.20 rod journals. Didn't buy it yet but am thinking about it.
Everyone's been talking about 4.25/2.2 having lots of oil pickup boss clearance for awhile now...I'm thinking the 4 and 3/8 arm is only another 1/8", and would only amount to 1/16" closer to the pickup boss.
Do you guys think I could get away with the internal pickup with that crank?

I have a 4.300 stroke in my 400 block, I had a 4.250 stroke crank in it before that I had ground the oil pick up boss for .045 clearances. I didn't have to grind any more clearances with the new crank. I use a set of CAT H beam steel rods also. I also use a stock Mopar 3/8 pick up for the 1970-71 street hemi 440-6pak oil pan. IHTH

Thanks for the comments, sounds good so far.
I've been swamped lately and have procrastinated for too long, guess I should probably buy it before the deal isn't available anymore.
4.375 bore and 4.375 stroke, 526CI has a certain ring to it.....7.100 rod gives a nice 1.4XX compression height, rod to stroke ratio doesn't sound bad at 1.62....I can't find anything I don't like about that combination, on paper at least.

Thank you, sounds good to me. I will try to chase down that crank here pretty soon.
