I have a 97 318 motor that is tired. I would like to replace it with a 360 and be able to use all the 318 components - computer electronics and fuel injection. Can this be done without any problems? Thanks, John

Your question illustrates EXACTLY why I get on my soapbox and rag people about calling the engines by their correct name.
What you call a "318" is either an LA 318 or a Poly 318 or a 5.2 Magnum. In this case I surmise the engine you want to replace is a 5.2Mag.
Likewise your "360" may be either an LA 360 or a 5.9 Mag.
Even though the engines have the same basic design and displacement (bore and stroke) there are enough differences to make correct nomenclature important.
Whether the 360 in question is a 5.9 Mag or a 360 from the LA line makes a lot of difference.
R. Exactly
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

R. Yesterday I began to type a similar reply. In the end deleted my thoughts with the assumption that the OP could easily find the info he's looking for with a simple Google search. But since no one else previously mentioned the difference in balancing, the OP should also take note of that.

R. My Bad!! Forgive me. 5.2 to a 5.9 - and not a hemi. Magnum motors. 1997 could have been a clue, but not clear enough. I actually posted this question on another site and used the Magnum designation. I'm slipping.
