Billy's combination above, while certainly not identical, has some similarities to an earlier evolution of my Challenger that had 3.55s, a stock 2200-stall OEM converter, a little hydraulic cam, and ran a best of 12.55 at 109+ MPH.

A lot more changed to get into the low 11s, though. That's probably another story...

State of confusion
Years ago before I discovered the bad-ass BB, my stock stroke factory headed 360 went a best of 11.88 @ 114 at Palmdale and drove it daily. Would of been faster if I knew then what I know today but we learn as we go.........26x10 Hoosiers, 3.91's 10" 3000+ vert, solid Isky cam etc........

72 Dart 470 n/a BB stroker street car `THUMPER`...Check me out on FB Dominic Thumper for videos and lots of carb pics......760-900-3895.....

Thank you for the kind words. I was thinking the same as I did all the work myself other then the block machine work and the milling of the heads.
It was a .030 over 440 with stock crank and recon stock rods. I used KB Quench pad pistons with the 906 heads I used that I ported myself. Comp was at 10.0. Ran the MP .557 cam and Isky iron rockers. Holley Street Dominator intake and a Holley 850 DP. Mallory dist and the MP orange ECU. Hedman 1-3/4 headers and 3" exh. 727 with a 9.5 converter and 4.30's on a 30 x 9 tire. I had under 7k in it as other then parts and machine work I did all the work myself which saved much money.
Best et was 11.49 @ 116 on SS springs and 3725 lbs in my 63 Sport Fury. And that was through the exh on pump. Normally ran 11.50's to 11.80's depending on weather. Ron

A/MP, don't be afraid to look for good deals on a used short block, or maybe even a long block, especially if it's from a reputable seller.
I've had 2 different cars that ran 9's in the 1/4 mile, simply because I found good deals on short blocks. Add Edelbrock heads and a very affordable solid camshaft and you're flying on the cheap.

The more cubes you can find or afford, the easier it is to go fast.
My current combo is extremely fun, I found a great deal on a 500" stroker kit for a 400 block, found an affordable guy to assemble the short block, got a great deal on used heads and intake and carb. Drove to the track last Saturday, ran 10.69 and drove it home, total blast. Very mild car with low compression, small headers, 3.23 highway gears, never runs hot. I could go as fast or faster with less cubes, but I'd more than likely need more gear, compression etc.

I'm still wanting to build a stroker small block someday soon, which would probably be best for the times you're looking to run(or even stock stroke), and would be a lot easier for fitment and maintenance.
Good luck with your project!
