Last time I ran this car was in 2004. I pulled the engine out and sold it to a Moparts member back in 2005 and then it took me 2 years to build a replacement engine. That took me to 2007 when I was super busy with work and then no money during the Great Recession. Laid off in 2012, kids in high school recently, etc. Whew, finally got some time out in the shop and got the car back together and fired up. Still have a long list of stuff to fix, change, modify, etc. but at least it is running so I can move it around instead of always pushing it. what cam is in the motor there? sounds nice.

also what is your front and rear suspension setup?

It is a Crane hyd roller. I forget the specs, isn't very big. I think it is around 235 or 240 or something close that. It was an expensive cam since the engine has roller cam bearings. Not really a good choice for a street engine but that is what happened!

Hard to list the suspension stuff, lots of custom parts on both ends of the car. Leaf springs have been moved in, custom anti-sway bars, custom shock plates, custom a-arms, etc. It all looks stock but I don't think there are any stock parts on the suspension except maybe the idler arm.

I don't know why but, I would have never thought you were a nitrous guy.

Those nitrous bottles are probably 20 years old and have never been used. I bought the system a long time ago and never hooked it up. Just have the bottles in the trunk.

I'll probably pull the bottles out and move them to the Duster this winter. The Duster has a Holley EFI system on it that has built in nitrous control. I don't think I'll ever use nitrous in the Coronet. The Coronet is more of street rod than a race car. I'm even planning to put the back seat back in it.

I've always loved that car! Something about a little patina and those Fikse wheels do it for me!

Yeah I've pretty much decided not to paint the car. I used to think I would take it all apart and get a super nice paint job but the cost is probably $15K and I just don't think I want to spend that kind of money for paint. I'm leaning towards driving it as is. I think I'll put the trim back on the car and I should get a hood scoop but otherwise I might just leave the exterior as is.

The Fikse rims still look good after 20 years. I think that style is timeless.

Wow! I think you've guilted me into cleaning the garage when I get home today...

I'm really anal and would like my car to be pretty and painted. The problem is I like driving it everywhere and walking away from it. Sometimes I don't even roll the windows up or lock it!

I have a lot of respect for guys that get their cars out and actually drive them rather than treat them as garage art.

I figure there is plenty of time to make it pretty when I retire.

GY3. Coming from the summit 3 meeting here, your car looks the part of awesome as it is. It also delivers the mail in a incognito way.
My car has small scratches here and there along with their history. The only thing I am doing is painting the doors real soon to match the main bulkhead and rear of the car.

By the way Andy. That 65' looks great as it is as well. Why wear a Tuxedo to the ball when you can bum rush the velvet ropes and steal the girl as is. Car sounds healthy and bulky. Probably handles better than any other early B-body on this forum with that advanced front and rear end geometry.

Which torsion bars do you like in that car?

I just put the Firm Feel upper arms on my car when I rebuilt the suspension.

With the .960" torsion bars and Bilstein shocks the front feels pretty stiff when bouncing it.

Need to think about tires and if I want an anti-sway bar on it or not..

Pretty much every street car needs a front anti-roll or stabilizer or sway bar. That's a pretty stout bar on Andy's car.

I ran a car without the front bar being hooked up and was dismayed to see the inner and outer edges of the front tires worn off after 3,000 miles. I swapped front to rear, attached the bar, and the tires lasted. No more wear from body roll while cornering.
