I think I paid less than $30.00 out of the JY off a Van that had over 300K miles on it. I didn't expect the starter to last long as it looked like the original, but, 6 yrs later, its still working great! To give you an idea just how grungy it was, I couldn't tell it was a mini starter until I chiseled some of the crud off. For me, I made the switch because its getting more and more difficult to find a quality rebuilt old style starter. Nothing sux more than having to R&R that heavy beast multiple times because it lasts for only a couple of starts. I miss the whine, but, the short zing is nice.

I bought one from a salvage yard about six years ago for $45. It had a six month warranty and is still working fine.

mancini $120 mini starter here.
I was miffed when I discovered it was no different than the starter that was already on my V6 dakota from the factory!
oh well, now I have a spare, or rather, I have one for my Cuda when it gets back on the road. it's been turning my 10.5:1 383 stroker without any problem.
I've even used it several times to "walk" my truck into the garage before I had the engine swap finished. put it in gear, twist the NSS wires together, and turn the key, it pulled the 4200 lb truck into the garage without any complaint.

I'm using a used starter from a I believe a 95 dodge 360 in my duster 340. Works great and easy to get in and out with headers.

From what I can tell the electrical connections are in a different spot compared to the original. Anyone have a pic of 1 mounted in car on a SB?
From what I can tell, it looks like the cable would need to go in front of the exhaust instead of behind?
Pull the black plastic/copper extension off.
There are only a couple brands of headers that this type of starter will not work with.
Unfortunately I have one of those brands.
Someone out there must have a pic of an installed mini-starter. I'm begging you guys, someone go out to your car and snap pic.
Please
