Another Mallory 140 user here since the mid 90's. Never had a problem with them.

In-tank Walbro...
Not sure why you can't run an in-tank...plenty of conversions out there, might even be able to get an aftermarket tank ready to go.

You can buy 2 or 3 electric Carter fuel pumps for the price of 1 of those stupid noisy Holley blue/red growlers.

I have been using Holley pumps since the 70's. Only ever had 2 go bad on me or my son in all them years. Yes they do make a bit more noise then some but thats how I grew up in my hotrods. If I did not hear the pump run when the key was turned on I knew I had a problem. But they have been very good for me. I ran the Holley red pump in a few different cars that were mild builds and it is preset to like 6 lbs. I even ran 10's in my 63 on the red pump before I updated to the black pump. They have always worked fine for me so I have stuck with the Holley. Ron

I have had a few Holley pumps let me down but Carter never left me stranded twocents

I'm using the Carter race pump now that needs a regulator but the standard street/strip pump should do you just fine and it's quiet compared to some of the other pumps already mentioned.

I like the Aeromotive 11203 pump for a simple dead headed street setup.
I've been running the bigger Aeromotive A1000 w/ a return style system for several years now also w/ no problems.
