My buddy who's an engine builder called cometics and they told him it was not advisable to re-use their head-gaskets? I thought one of the reasons to buy cometics was because they were reusable!! Does anyone see a problem re-using a gasket that has only been on once?

Mr. P, that's what I have heard. I can only think cometics want's to make some $$. I don't thimk the 14.3 compresson makes that much of a diffrence do you?

I had no problems used the same ones all year.

Apart 3 times going seven seconds in the 1/4.

I think they are doing 2 things, 1) is that they are
covering their butts IF it fails and 2) they can sell
their product... it was good enough for the 14+ compression
the first time.... why not the second. At one time
they use to say that they were re-usable...I guess
that changed

I have ALWAYS reused them and NEVER had a problem doing it.

I have reused them time and time again but one little trick is to spray them with Holomar --they will seal up NO PROBLEM--the Holomar STOPS any water issues--it will spring a leak in your wallet --approx $50 a can from CV Products but will go a long way

Over and over here too. After the black coating starts to go away we spray them with copper coat. Haylomar is good for lots of stuff, but personal experience with blue Haylomar is that it never sets, and eventually moves away from any pressure applied. Very very thin spray of copper works for me.
