Close to getting my Fitech installed in my 65 Coronet with a 440. I am running a Mopar Performance ignition and the distributor was curved by FBO.
Thoughts on the Fitech timing control? Use it?
How did you wire to it to this distributor to use the timing control? Best way to lock out advance?
If I don't use the timing control how did you wire it to the distributor?
Finally any recommendation where to wire for the key on power?
Thanks, nd65

Post back what you find. I recently called the Fitech tech line for timing related issues, I'm not using the timing control feature and asked about it. When I told him I was running the stock style MP distributor he said they don't support that, only MSD style. Which is odd because the instructions clearly indicate how to wire it. He said, "sorry, we don't support that"
So on that issue, I'm not sure what's right. There's a VERY (50+ pages?) long thread on FABO about FiTech and timing signals. According to Pace Performance and FiTech the unit requires a very clean digital signal to function properly. And an adjustable rotor to get the phasing correct. So MSD or one of the other ready to run distributors is required. If you've got plenty of spare time to read the thread there's a lot of great info in there. Robert

So you're happy with yours and the FCC? I almost talked myself into a system and then decided other issues have higher priority.

Running mine with timing control with MSD 6AL locked down, with initial set around 25 degrees. Without a two wire distributor you have to use the tach signal input on the FiTech. Either connect to neg side of coil or on an aftermarket like MSD the tach output of the controller. From what I read signal interference is a problem when using the tach input so a shielded signal wire is required. I connected my Aeromotive pump directly to the FiTech with the wire indicated on the installation diagram, larger gauge orange wire as I recall. By connecting direct you can use the PWM to reduce load/heat on the pump at idle and low loads.
Best improvement I found in my application was to set the idle AFR very lean. Really cleaned up the exhaust and improved vacuum. Throttle response is great!
The FiTech rev limiter is a hard limit. They recommend to use a soft limiter set a little lower than the setting on the FiTech. It should work ok if you only intend to use it for emergency situations like a missed power shift.
