As MrP said run it first as is. I also agree with Dominic and that is REALLY close to the vents. Especially if you have long vent tubes like Braswell, CFM run

killermopar. Thanks. Between the heat and the storms coming through lately, plus the new job, it is hard to make time to work on her. I need to finish mounting the nose so that I can send her out for paint.

I am running a snorkel top on my tunnel ram. Car should run mid to low 8's. The opening is 2" x 13". I put 1" dams half way around the front of each carb. Should I be adding relief holes on the backside of the scoop? I have seen this done on street cars, but never on all out drag cars. my thinking would be with the amount of money you spent to run mid-to-low 8s... the hood scoop is not the place you want to skip out on.. the scoop that Close to the top of the carburetor will cause havoc on the vent tubes and boosters.. especially at the mph you're looking at... my two cents

The scoop is 2 x 13 bot the roof is 2 1/2" above the carb. Is there a minimum distance that has been determined to work best? I can add spacers to the carb to raise it if needed, but I also need to be able to see the tree from the left lane.

Run it, then make bowl vent tubes connecting the two with holes drilled in the tubes connected w/spark plug boots..........Confusing....... Not at all. I've seen that done before. Was going to just bend up a brass tube across the original vent tubes and put holes across the top side. Cleaner looking than the plug boot trick.

I bought the scoop new, 30 years ago. No holes in the back of it yet. No choice on scoop design, due to class restrictions. what class is this for... look for a gray area in the rule

What do the rules allow and not allow? If it has to be attached to the carbs/engine there are better choices. Go to Harwood's site and look at "dragster scoops" for some ideas.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

The interior cross-section area before the 1st carb should be much larger than the entry. This converts the forward air speed into positive pressure above the carbs. Interior volume: big. Height above the vent: 1 air-horn distance.

CMcAllister: Must be era correct. Snorkle scoops are the only ones that were used in the 70's. It was my idea to put the snorkel on the carbs without a base. polysheric: No air horns on carbs. The top of the scoop is 2 1/2" above the carb, 1" above the top of the bowl vent. I wonder if I can get away with a modified top of the scoop (tent top) like Sox and Martin did on the Challengers.

What about one of the plexiglass scoops that are popular now? http://innovativeracecraftfl.com/shop/dual-carb-scoop-clear/
