I'm planning to incorporate a surge tank into my fuel system when I convert to mechanical fuel injection. I'm doing this to do minimum change to my car with this conversion. I have a 1 gal tank fed thru 2 holley float bowls. I plan to go large on the needle/seats. This will be fed via a rear tank, Aeromotive A1000 pump via -10 fuel line to a regulator and -8 lines to the bowls. From the tank I will gravity feed to the Hilborn pump via a -12 line .

I have never used a surge tank and was wondering if there are things I should look out for and if my setup sounds like it would work OK.

Thanks, Max

I think if using holley float bowls, the top of the surge tank may need to be vented for air to escape?

is there a return line from the Hilborn Injection? would it go to that fuel tank or surge tank?

You're correct the tank currently has 3 bungs on it. One for vent, one for return from Hilborn pump and I don't know yet if I will need to use the third one. I will run the hilborn pump return into the surge tank. My regulator has a return to the rear tank. I could reroute the -8 return from the regulator into the surge tank. May need to do that to keep it from running low. .

Quick sketch of what I did. The 2 level switches are wired to latched relays that control the electric fuel pump in the rear. There's also a baffle around the 3 incoming fuel bungs.
