Well guys its been a battle but finally got it on the pump and was only able to get a few pulls due to issues but considering im pretty happy with the results and im sure im at 4digit zone once i get things sorted out.made 3 partial pulls only one full due to an OP issue no playing with carb whatsoever tried timming at 30and32*liked 30* by looking at the partial pulls.here ya go 1st partial and the final pull i asked to go to 7500 but he cut it off alittle early.

didnt have spray bar oilers restricted enough and oil wasnt draining back fast enough...valve covers where leaking bad so only pulled 6inches of vac max and contaminated the dyno with smoke from burning off the headers.here the stats

started with 7.5 litres of oil and first pulled it to 5000 and seen OP drop so we added 1.5 litres made one last pull and called it a day.Prior to this i had to pull the heads and redo all the pushrod sleeves as they were sucking oil the first time we put it on the pump got 2mins of run time and shut er down pulled carb and intake was full of oil.now shes dry but didnt want to hurt anything and buddy was busy as hell so thats all she wrote!

yes Chip orig B1s single cast B1 intake old 1150dom 14.4comp.had several spacers to try and a APD 1250 and a Davinci 1300 but didnt get a chance to use em frown.i think another 8-10inches of vac and a smoke free dyno room and alittle more playing even with the 1150 it woulda been there.

I don't know what you have for rockers, paired or shaft oil, but I assume paired with pushrod oiling. You may need to restrict the oil to the rockers more. Timing should be 32* all in and that will help lots. Too much oil will cause the problem you had as well. You will need drain backs on the front and rear of the heads too. Good luck, it looks stout.

GTX indy block 4.5x4.625

Tom jesel paired rockers spray bar only i knew i had to restrict it but the orig owner said thats the way the ran it on the old motor so i tried it.ive already addressed the restriction issue just have to finish putting it together and see how much im gonna need to restrict.also may increase the lines to -8....

When I looked at this post I thought for sure this engine was the 588 B1 my engine builder had on the Dyno on April 25th...the specs are almost the same and so is the power. They got close to 1000hp with the cast intake a 4 barrel and a bit over with a tunnel ram.

"Timing should be 32* all in and that will help lots"

Do these B1 large motors usually like this low of a timing?

Big ones yes, perhaps 33 but mine ran best at 32 at sea level.

Get the vacuum issue solved, wont ad much for power but engine well be happier. Put a larger carb on it, larger throttle blade and it will like that too. What fuel are you using? The BSFC's look pretty good, which explains the lower timing. IMO depending on fuel the AFR's are on the lean side especially up top. Still plenty there for sure. IMO carb spacer likely wont yield a ton as the intake on a B1 is pretty bug but a reversion plate and small tapered spacer may show some decent gains. Was still making power when the pull stopped as well.

Out little 572 made 1000 and seems to run a representative number to date, with plenty left. Good luck with it!!!

ya Al i agree looked alittle lean to me too we had Q16 in it...yes it was still making power he just didnt like the OP so cut it short. a bit more for a smoke free room(it was brutal couldnt stand in there for 10sec)and the rings were still not sealed because of the synthetic oil i used.also agree on the carb deal but i own it so thought i would give it a try...i was happy considering.. now time to get it to the track!!have some chassis work to do so hopfully in the next few weeks.
