I have an old magnum/LA hydraulic roller cam that was made with the 2-piece core (so you don't have to use a bronze dist gear). I am pretty sure it was made from a Crane core.

Unfortunately It's got a few rust spots on it that won't come off easily.

Can it be reground or should I scrap it?

Is Chase Knight from Crane still around? Maybe he would know?

Thanks

I had emailed Chase a couple of years ago about some old MP(made by crane) roller lifters. He was prompt to respond with good info.

I think I dug his email up from a post on here or his profile I can't remember.

Hey thanks for the great idea.

I forgot this board retained the old fashioned "user list" that alot of others don't have anymore. I found him and will send an email in a minute.

I bought a two piece roller cam off Ebay a couple of years ago and it's a Comp brand # 20-709-8 just FYI...

I always figured they did the grinding on crane or somebody else's core, but maybe I got that wrong, thanks

Call Bullet. They will know. I am willing to guess that the answer will be Yes. The roller is more forgiving than a flat tappet, in my opinion.

Depends on what the current lobes are and whether it can be reground into something usable for the build. Bullet has done many regrinds for me and the 2pc cores are better than the factory cast cores.
