No retainer,it just lays under the accelerator pump.

Any BBD I ever rebuilt, NEVER had the check ball retainer . . . don't worry about it, the ball stays under the accel pump plunger, as it should . . .

if it never develops a hesitation from no squirt then I'd say you're good.

I was wrong, the BBD provision on the side is also ported!

Actually that side port MAY be some kind of EGR signal & not be a full on ported signal. (you're still off the hook!).

If off idle the vac is comparable to vac at a manifold port then I'd say you're good.

carb began to fail once again... it seems maybe leaking. Is hard to keep engine running. Spark plugs shows like rich mixture. But I couldn't find any leak anywhere when cleaning and installing the new kit. I filled the bowl with thiner which is able to gho through any kind of crack easier than the gasoline and couldn't find any leak.

where to check?

it's leaking from the needle/seat assy. I have one that is doing the same thing & I went thru it meticulously. I'm gonna take the needle/seat assy out & spray it.
