Early in the session (3:45), the Cayman GTS just kissed the dirt on the left edge of the track going wide exiting turn 9 into the front straight. He recovered, but not before leaving a large dust cloud for me to drive through. Given the choice between a dust cloud or a spun/flipped Porsche in front of me, I will choose the former, thank you.

I had trouble on turn 9 in 2015. I kept turning in too early and too fast, then ran wide to the edge and wasn't able to get on the power until I was through the turn. I hit 115 in the straight. An instructor drove a few laps and hit 122 simply from better driving and a later corner entry.

Takes practice, and lots of it. grin Each corner will be different, even if they look the same.

It was my first time on a road course. Pretty humbling experience, actually. I thought that I was a decent driver until the instructor drove the car and went faster through the course by a fair margin.

First time, well that is a VERY big and ligitement excuse. hahaha. With #9's decreasing radius corner, yes stay wide as it'll surprise you how fast the corner exit will turn in on you, and you'll find yourself outside in the dirt.

If you watch my videos, you will see the speedometer hit 137/138 on some of the laps.* biggrin

This is slammed up against the rev limiter in 4th gear.

This is the aftermath of my passenger front tire after braking hard from 135 mph to avoid rear ending a 68 Barracuda!
Flat-spotted to hell and all the rubber went up in smoke!

At least it was diet so it didn't ad much weight to the car.

There was a '69 listed as entered, so most likely that one. grin And the color looks the same as the one in a couple still pictures.

There were two AMX's. One teal fresh built. The other dark grey/black primer.

Yup, I thought there were 2 entered, and both '69s, so I just got done looking; 1 with black rims, 1 with shiny rims.

The Teal one was really nice and very tastefully modified, control freak suspension, etc. It ran pretty good, a father and son had it out. The Black one broke on the instructor warm up laps, not sure what happened, I wished it ran more. Both were AMC powered too.
