Will have AC, ceiling fans and LED High bay lighting . Also putting 12' tall Pallet racking all along one wall. I don't think I need heated floors. My current shop stays 60F in the winter with a very small heater.

A separate "clean room" if you do any engine building. I have a clean room with a flip down table thats mounted to the wall.. when not using it I can drop it down to get it out of the way

If it was my shop I was building I would put the 40x25 equipment room outside the main building with access from the main building.

My shop is only 36-28 so a small wall mounted gas unvented radiant heater on a remote thermostat keeps my garage as warm as I want it rather cheaply in PA Winter weather. I installed a nice big ceiling exhaust fan years ago so I can easily freshen the air in my shop or flip on while running the race cars in the shop (especially with alcohol). I always keep a carbon monoxide tester sitting on top my drill press and it has warned me lots of times over the years.

Your in Texas, so hot like me! Best thing I did was put in these 60" Agricultural ceiling fans. Got them from Global. Doesn't cool it off, but just nice to have air moving, and you can really feel them in about a 10' circle underneath. I have eight, with them split for front and back of shop. The big fan in the eve is a 24,000 CuFtMin unit that can change the air in the shop in about 4 minutes. It is loud, but moves a ridiculous amount of air. If I shut the roll ups, the air speed through the man door is like 15 MPH!

2 things that some people skimp on. I insisted on these when planning and building my shop and I am so glad I did. I spent my life working in places that were like ovens with not enough outlets, welding receptacles or amperage.
Electrical. I don't want to say what I spent. 40x52 shop. About 16 quad 110 electrical outlets distributed throughout with plenty of 220 plugs also, both 30 and 50amp. Custom built florescent fixtures with 96 4' T8 bulbs on the ceiling. Switched to allow some or all to be on, depending on needs. Planned and positioned to eliminate dark spots or shadows out against the walls. White ceiling and walls to spread the light around. Wish we would have done the floor in white epoxy. Maybe later It's so nice to be able to see what you're doing.
Central A/C. Temperature and humidity controlled. Plenty of insulation. Ceiling fans. 'Nuff said.
9k Rotary lift, windows on the southern exposure for natural light, nice audio system with Sirius. Would have liked to do radiant heat in the floor, but I had to chose my priorities. Also have a half bath roughed in but not finished. We also need to add some separate but attached storage to get parts and equipment not being used out of the workspace. Too busy working to get that stuff done.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Think about a separate room or small outbuilding to store seldom used items or put things like an air compressor that make a lot of noise.
I agree with the compressor having its own room. Maybe my compressor is louder than most, or maybe I'm getting too old, but my air compressor really drives me nuts.

I dont put anything in a non insulated area if I want to keep it from rusting.. I put my 38 ply in the pole barn one winter.. it was starting to rust in just 6 months.. with the heated floors my shop is dry all the time.. even if I spill water on the floor and the 38 is fine now.. I keep stuff out in the pole barn like my zero turn and other things (its not insulated or heated... also you never have enough lights... last year I ran 2 more strings of some high output halogens.. also on the ceiling I have reflective material thats also insulation(not much but it all helps.. it cost me $30-$35 a month to keep it at 62*.. any warmer and I'll sweat with that style of heating and I just wear T-shirts EDIT Also I have my compressor in the shop.. its not that noisy but the air is much drier.. I only have to drain it monthly plus I run driers on the air lines and they all go up then spread out and each drop has a drain.. I have painted a couple of cars in there but I hate to do it now days(to much to clean up)

Thanks for all the input. My current shop have 4 gang outlets, 220/30 & 220/50 every 15' and 4" of 2.0 closed cell foam. I prefer close cell foam.
