Is there a host hotel this year? Or- where is everyone staying? 68HemiB and I are staying at the Devonshire in Rosamond. It's not that great of a motel, but it will probably be better than sleeping in the car.

Autocrossed today. My Camaro front spoiler was destroyed by a couple cones, my inner fender lip is shredding into my tires, and I lost 2 nuts on my driver's side exhaust flange bolts. So, I have some work to do tonight and tomorrow. I'm going to remove the front GT trim, just for Willow, try cutting/massaging the inner lip some more and add some nuts to my exhaust flange with lock washers installed on both sides. I don't think I'll be able to get new tires in the brand/size I want by Tuesday so I may have to baby it or limit my runs at Willow as I already have a decent sized gashes in my tires.
This is why I did this event. Had to shake down the car before Willow. At least it drove nice on the freeway.

Yeah those gashes look deep but at least its cutting into the tread of the tire where its thicker and not the sidewall. Having cut up tires at the track is still sketchy though! I would be working that lip and fold it up as much as possible. Things are a lot different at the track, much higher speeds and more cornering forces. Last place you want to have a tire blowout

I would be working that lip and fold it up as much as possible. Things are a lot different at the track, much higher speeds and more cornering forces. Last place you want to have a tire blowout Plan right now is to try to fold the lip over a little more or cut some of it, possibly remove the front GT trim for the track day, and get locking washers and new nuts for my exhaust bolts. Since I have the front wheels off, I'll probably just go through all the bolts making sure everything is tight. The back end I'm comfortable with because I did it 2-3 years ago. Was the Autocross track really bumpy? Maybe body roll and bumps cause the tires to contact the body? In Reno's Hot August Nights "drift car" course last year, there was a dip in the course to provide drainage for the parking lot. You'd see the cars sliding sideways through the curve and the dip would sometimes upset the car to the point of gaining traction or spinning out. The better drivers were able to fight through it and keep their line. I understand that many Autocross events are held in empty parking lots so you take what you can get. How did you do otherwise? No, but it was a lot of transitions one right after another. Not really any straights. Just left, right, left, right... So, the car is swaying side to side quite a bit. As far as my performance, my autocross technique is still very rusty and I'm still unfamiliar with the Dart in a racing environment. So, I scored last in my group and was definitely on the lowest end of cars for the day. I often had trouble controlling the car through the various transitions. The back end will break loose with the smallest input. Sometimes without an input. It's definitely begging for some Bridgestone RE-71R and a 275 series tire but those wear out super quick. The average time was about 37-38 seconds, I believe. My fastest was about 43 seconds and that was with a misfiring engine.

You don't get nearly the amount of body roll as you do in a tight autocross. And you will not turn the wheels as tight either. I don't think you generate as much heat in the tires either when autoX-ing? From the looks of it I am taking a guess that tire is on the rear driver side. The tire dosen't have the beads of melted rubber that one usually sees at a track (I haven't auto-Xed in years so I forget?). No rubber melting/ deformation at all in that tire, but will definitely see when ran hard at the track. Hopefully the heat generated and expansion of air dosen't affect that tire any. I'm sure Samy will be fine, I just would not run any tires with cuts especially with the speeds on the straight at Big Willow.

...My Camaro front spoiler was destroyed by a couple cones... The way I understand autocross, you are supposed to drive around the cones.
Down to just a blue car now.

The rears are 100% ok. The one pictured is front passenger. Front driver is similar but not as bad IMO. I didn't race enough to generate any real heat in them. If I did the whole day and there weren't 10 run groups, maybe.
