And all you really need to know is the location of the top two block to housing bolts. correct, and the big block bolt pattern is closer together than the small block bolt pattern, but i forget the exact center to center measurements of both. ~6&1/2"-SB. ~7&7/8"-BB. C to C.

IMO, the easiest way to ID BB or SB is by the converter dust cover bolt holes. For me, a quick glance at the starter pocket tells it all.
