A bit off topic, but the photo of the roller cam, what is your opinion on the grooved #2/#4 journals?

I added the grooving to the flat tappet hydraulic in my 360 that has the old crane aluminum adjustable rockers. So far no issues, and more oil to the rockers. Using a HV oil pump so plenty of pressure.

With a hyd lifter cam I can see no need for the grooved cam journals. In a hyd cam sb unless there are some rare factors I do not use a hv oil pump either. Solid roller builds it changes things a bit. Have run 6.20's(1/8 mile) with crappy hyd roller lifters(stock) and low volume pumps with no issues for many passes and street miles. No quench either. LOL

As well... With a hyd lifter cam I can see no need for the grooved cam journals.

I myself on a non roller camed build have done a single oil mod, except restrictors for hs rockers when ive used them but I will add this, most the time there is an oiling problem if people look hard enough they will find it.

An example is on this build with this .509 cam, when I put the cam bearing in, #2 oil hole to the head was drilled way off center in the cam tunnel from the gate and maybe 1/6 of the hole was open with the cam bearing was centered and the hole fully open to the mains, I pulled the bearing and it was just like all the rest of the #2 bearings so I tried to split the difference a bit and no go, so I popped it out and elongated the hole so everything is happy now.

I still run old unbushed comp magnum rockers from the 90-s, in fact the rockers for this cam/build ran for years on a .570 lift comp solid at just over #400 open shifting at over 7k and never had metal transfer.
