It matters if your gonna call a business out for crap work that they didn't perform.

Regardless of it being Indy, who hasn't done worth a darn taking care of customers.... the internet, and especially the mopar hobby doesn't need any help with alternative facts.

Maybe the step in the deck lines up with the step in the heads to clamp the head gasket better! grin I think you just got an unfinished block. If you paid for a finished block, then there is an issue that needs to be resolved.

Are you guys crazy? NO other maker sends out heads like that with a .002-.003 two step level and then says oh..you bought them bare so...snap out of it. Who what when where how does not matter just look at the heads as shipped Defending those folks is ....well....can't say the words I am thinking--I am glad Indy was sold--Hope new owners improve things--but many many customers over the years have had to just put up with THIS kind of stuff from them--Dealers defend this because they make $$ off the line--I get that--but I posted this so if any back yard builder gets a set of heads he better beware and correct the decks before use--( and the valve job, and the guides , and all the rest)

There seems to be almost universal love for B1 heads, and yet when you buy a set of those bare, they are much farther from being a finished, ready to use head than any Indy head I've ever had in my shop....... And everyone seems to be fine with that.
Guides that are 5 thou undersize, seats just a big chunk of ductile iron, pushrod tunnels that require clearancing. Every set I've seen in use has some sort of external drain back lines added, yet the provisions for those lines aren't part of the std machining on the casting....... And no one is complaining.

Buying bare Indy heads is buying an unfinished part. When bought that way they come without a finished deck surface for about 10-12 years now.

Oh, and I have a set of stage 6 heads in the shop that also have the multi pass finish.

Just to be clear, I'm not taking the position that Indy stuff is always perfect. I've seen many things over the 15 years of selling their heads that really could have been done better, but the things you're crying about wouldn't be on the list.

My take on this thread is....... You bought unfinished parts and are unhappy that they aren't as finished as you hoped/expected.
I think if you would have asked more questions before actually placing the order, you would have known what was going to show up at your door.

That head left Indy and wasn't surfaced. Again- a call to whoever it was bought from would correct the issue.

They have ONE finish machine to surface heads and ONE guy who does it. But things get missed.

That head wasn't cut, end of story

Well after you piss 94% of your customer base off and realize lawsuits won't stop...
It might be time to get out..It takes a special kind of scumbag to do what Indy owners do to people.

If you call Indy with a problem with one of their parts they will tell you real fast that you are an idiot.

I've been reading Indy bashing threads about poor quality and lousy customer service ever since I bought my first computer.
I'd say it should be pretty common knowledge by now...... And in each of those threads there is someone saying that if you want to run Indy products, the better course of action is to buy from a reputable dealer.

People still buy direct........ And are surprised when it turns out that all those threads that have been posted for years and years have merit.

I rarely ever get a complaint from a customer Ive sold some Indy parts to.

My BMP block had .010 on the deck and .005 in the bore for finishing. Maybe that's case here. If there is a step then the block moved when machining or there is a machine tool issue. As long as there is cutter overlap there should be no step.
