just want to let you know that i have spoken to Kelsey tires and the tires will be ready to ship on the 1st of the month in march it looks like.
the price is pretty steep at $450.00 per tire plus shipping but what can you do.
how do you guys feel about the stiff price. i need 2 sets but might have to go for it since who knows when the next run will be made.thats $3600.00 + shiupping for 8 tires as i have 2 original spares still in the trunk.

Ouch! What can I do you ask? I can buy another set of Firestones from Coker for less than half!
The Goodyears have been absent from our A12's so long that most people think that the Firestones are correct anyway! The only reason I see for the Goodyears is to compete in the OEM Gold. I'll bet not too many of the Pure Stock guys spring for them either just to burn them up!
KID
$450 plus shipping per tire in this economy is an absolute joke!

Your right I would like a set, but 450 ain't gonna happen! I actually think the Goodyear is a slightly better looking tire too I know a lot of A12 guys and I think that I can count on one hand the ones that would even consider spending that.

i personally think its price gouging, so many A12 guys called kelsey to get on these tires that they figured they will recoop all there money on tooling on the 1st batch to cover there butts.
it sucks, i personally think they are overpriced by double.
i think $225.00 would work for most guys, but i bet they sell a bunch considering a nos one could sell for well over a $1000.00 per tire.

I would pay $225 without hesitation If I needed tires. Your right in the reasoning for the price gouging.

Chris,

Even I (cheapskate that I am) would consider $225 if my Firestones were burned up. Fortunately I have quite a few burnouts, runs, and miles left on them and since my car is not trying to be perfect i can live with the Firestones.

I'm glad Kelsey opooed them out though.

Now were are those H-wheels?

heres the email kelsey just sent me to verify its definitely happening.

Hello Chris,

The initial production is now taking place. Delivery should be completed around the first of the month. The price per tire is $450.00 plus shipping. Please let us know if we may be of service. Thank you for thinking Goodyear.

Regards,

Kelsey

Visually and size wise there will be no real difference. Only the purest will know.

As a side note: A ton of the Pure Stock guys and FAST guys have gotten countless seasons out of the Firestone repops! No-one is harder on tires than these guys! I can't imagine that any of them will give them up at twice the price. I'm not kidding they last forever.....

Must be a trick question.
If the only way I could keep my car meant putting "H" wheels and redlines on it, it would have a for sale sign in the window. I feel the factory chose the cheap wheel combo, because they felt most racers were going to change them anyways. By the way, I know I don't belong in the resto forum

Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

The guy I bought my car from has a friend in the tire business and is getting me a set of Firestones for around 175.00 ea with no shipping charge. He said the Goodyears will be out soon at around 325-350.00 ea wholesale. I'm still going with the Firestones but what I'm saying is if you have any connections with a tire dealer you may be able to save a bunch.
