I really like the KB block, but getting one is another story.

Don't let Indy do all the machining, it will need fixing. BG can finish machine it, or just let BEST take care of you (good customer service).
I know the INDY hate level on this board is high, but this is actually a pretty ridiculous statement.............So you are saying that a shop that sells no telling how many complete race motors a year that run well, can't do machine work? The problem is people don't give information. They say "I want a finished block" and then when they get it and it isn't perfect, they biotch. But did you tell them exactly what finish bore size you wanted. What RA finish you wanted. The exact deck height you wanted. The lifter bore clearance you wanted, etc. INDY has state of the art equipment and can do anything and in my experience WILL, if you ask them to

You will never ever get an HP block. Nothing but lies from them. I'm having to spend thousands to rework my HP block. Any idea what 8 new special made liners cost?

Monte,

Unlike the class act that you are, the owner and another employee at Indy are just rude and nasty. That said, when you buy something from them, they act like they are doing you a favor. I bought a set of TTI headers from them, and the add-on charges to have something drop shipped is just out of line.

On the other hand, chuck at Best is nice, and answers questions without being nasty. Ordering from them is a pleasure.

I have never had a problem with INDY. Russ, Fred and Kenny have always treated me very well. My experience with them started years ago when I was just a broke ass kid, talking to Kenny about porting some stage IV iron heads I had at the time. I know Russ can be grumpy, we all can after dealing with idiots on the phone all day year after year. Hell, my own phone etiquette is not great on some days and I don't deal with near the volume they do............LOL!!! I try and not form opinions on a phone call, because I know how that can be. Customers all want to be and really should be, treated like they are the most important person in the world AT THE TIME.........but this is the real world, we are human and emotions get in the way at times. I find it impossible to be in good cheer all the time, because the phone always rings at the most inopportune time

I remember that I wore Kenny out on the phone about those first heads, because I really didn't have the money at the time. He was likely sick of me. But when I went to pick them up, they were all very nice, gave me a tour of the whole place and I even went to lunch with them. Granted that was a long time ago, but never had a problem since either

Hi Monte,

I am glad they treat you so well...I just ordered from them twice within the last 2 months, and I will tell you, they are rude...they treat you well because of who you work for, and who you are, and if not, you could cause them some serious grief.

I have one of their 605 Hemi Legend engines (new) that I bought from another person that bought from them directly...they are still rude to me.

I need to buy 2 modman intakes, one for my RB and one for the Hemi...I will try to figure out who I can buy from so I don't have to deal with them directly. Well ain't that great customer service!

If I talked to my customers like they do, I would either be fired or would not get many orders.

BR, Mark

I had this problem with TTI headers and a Indy block. I had a 3/8" header flange welded onto the TTI header flange to space the header away from the motor. It still needed some dinging on the tubes to clear.

TTI makes a specific header for the indy block.....looks like they bend and ding them abit to clear the pan rail and cross bolt.i had to wait for them to make em for me when i ordered them took 6-7weeks.

You try dealing with Indy when you're half way around the world.
my first dealing with them was a set of -1 heads. they arrived & had a lot of porosity showing in the castings. I rang Indy & they told me to send them back, on my dime!! & they'd send me another set, on my dime!. i had someone local do tests & we ran them as is.
my second dealing was a Maxx block. i told them i was going to run 4.375 pistons. they came rough bored to 4.375, by the time i torque plate honed them to get rid of the machine marks in the bores, i had 0.006 clearence. Indy says, send it back on my dime & they'll send a replacement, on my dime!. Sorry, good machining from Indy doesn't sit well with me. Hence my last Indy item came thru Todd & it's perfect.

FWIW...My TTI hemi headers didn't clear the side bolts on my KB block either.
