You need the actual bearing and race number and go to an industrial supply house and get US made Timken bearings, there is a difference.

Thanks again for all of your input of my troubles. Now one more question or two about the 8.75. When I purchased this 489 from the guy, he told me that it was originally an E-body part and he cut it down for the A-body. Outside length is 52.5" now and axles are 27-1/8" in total outside length. Someone mentioned to me that if the measurement of the housing and axles are not to spec, then the thrust block in the diff needs to be removed. Are there any tolerances on these numbers, are mine good enough to not have to remove the thrust block? If I don't have to, I don't want to.

Stock A-body housing width is 52 5/8", the stock axles are 27 11/16". BBP conversion axles should measure 28".

How are you measuring the axles? Outside of flange to tip of splines is the correct way.

Man o man I guess my coffee didn't open my eyes this morning when I read the tape, lol, the axle length from end to outside is actually 27-11/16". Thank you again.
