For one thing, this thread nees way more pics... Here's my '64 NewYorker, which I rolled with semi-gloss black paint and a rounded roller over a year ago. I used a little brush first to paint the areas the roller can't come. I've covered each section only 2 times, cause I used an old can of paint and I wasn't sure I could get a new can of the same stuff again these days. The paint I used however was regular housepaint. Nothing special. The car is a little dusty though, but I'm happy as can be with the way it turned out. Click an image for a larger version;

69, a ton of people will read a post, and because they never respond, you think they are jumping in. Your post was the subject of a short discussion (more of a mention to me really) at the winter gathering this past Saturday in MA. I've been following along since it started, just didnt feel the need to "add" anything productive or otherwise until this morning...Next time I'll just keep lurking..I did say nice car too, I did look at the pics and stuff days ago. If you're by this way, I'll treat you to . Or we can play "Hazzard County" down my driveway...lol.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Well since BigBlockMopar said we need more pictures here is how mine turned out. Someone also mentioned a while back about a satin finish. I used the Rustoleum flat black and sanded between coats as discussed here and I think I ended up with a satin finish. I used rubbing compound and fine steel wool on mine at the end. It has visible orange peel but is the look I was going for.

Your right 69charger its all good fun. After all we are all Chrysler Crazy. Its like driving down the road and spotting someone else's ride (Mopar of course)in a driveway or going the other way down the rode we all get rubber band necks and almost crunch into other cars around us just trying to catch a quick glance, cause we are nuts about these cars and I can't think of anything better to have an addiction to. We all may love the same cars but its funny when it comes to doing work to them the way we differ on opinion. Like until I read this post I never thought I could get away with rolling paint on my car. Now that I see you have perfected this way of doing it and saved some coin in the process I am glad to have read this thread. I'm game to give this a try soon as the car is ready for paint in a couple months. As for using the Rustoleum Hammered paint I'll stay away from that Thanks for the heads up: Jay

i have lots of addictions, but i also like all old cars, i think they are all cool. The 69 charger is my all time favorite, maybe cause i grew up watching dukes of hazzard, i don't know i'm not a doctor!!! but i really like the old VW beetles, they are a blast, i get lots and i mean lots of attention in the charger, but driving the bug around i get huge laughs when poeple are constantly punching eachother!!!! that never gets old, espically when the other person does'nt even know why they got a shot and then the puncher points to my car and they get it!!!! funny story, i was out crusing in the bug, and i pulled up at a light next to a Ferrari 360 Modena, school was just out and there was a bunch of kids on the corner, then they all pointed and yelled, WOW.... COOL LOOK AT THE BEETLE. i looked over at the Ferrari guy and he was like so wanting to get out of there. here i am in a $6000 car and kids are going crazy about it, there he was in his $300000 car and nobody knew he was even there. plus i like being able to pull my motor in 20 mins with a skateboard just to see if it's ok lol. for $4000 you could build a sick bug motor/tranny high 9sec 1/4mi car. that's my future plan, make a stock appearing vw bug sleeper.....

O.K. Everybody!!Listen up!! 69 Chargeryeehaa pics just do NOT do justice to the paint job!!! I personally seen this car this past weekend and it looks GREAT!You have to see it for yourself in PERSON!! I had to go see for myself!! The shine and smoothness of the paint is impressive.Even my Brother in law who's not into cars liked the paintjob!!Looks like a professional paintjob.Better than what they did on the Dukes show!!Overall the car is a nice cruiser that can be shown.Like most of our toys,his still needs a few things here and there only if they are pointed out.To the local cruise night crowd this Charger can steal the most attention! (69......you can wire me the bribe money by Western Union )

Hey guys, this link was passed on to me from a friend of mine. I have a ’95 honda civic cx in navy blue that I need to repaint due to old age and the 402,000km that it has on the body and original paint. Now I went to my local Canadian Tire at Laird/Eglinton and tried to look for a gallon of the Tremclad paint that’s my colour and clerk told me that they have to mix it to get the navy blue. They only carry black/white/gray and a few other ordinary colours that are already pre mixed.
Now since 69chargeryeehaa is saying you can’t mix the paint, what am I supposed to do? The clerk said if I want my colour, they combine a bunch of other colour together and then shake it…that’s how I get the colour. Would that still be ok, or do I need one already done by tremclad?
These are the following steps I’ve summarized for anyone that’s trying to follow this process. Please help me elaborate on all of them to make this a good/informative read for everyone.
By biggest trouble area is the paint thinning?!?! How is it done with these mineral spirits, and I also read somewhere through the thread that you have to wipe the paint after it’s done with these mineral spirits again? I am not quite sure, can someone clarify?
- Tremclad acrylic/enamel paint - 4" professional FOAM rollers, it's tiny and has one end rounded off, and the other cut straight, and is a very high density foam. - Jug of mineral spirits to thin the paint
Painting process: - Thin the paint with mineral spirits so it just about as thin as water, a little thicker I don’t understand what is meant by “as thin as water” - Get out the roller and paint away, don't get the paint shaked when u buy it, enamel is stirred, otherwise you'll have bubbles in the paint for a week - Apply 2 coats, wetsand with 600grit, apply two more coats, wetsand with 1000 grit, apply last two coats, and wetsand with 1500 grit - Using a high speed polisher i use a buffing bonnet and turtle wax polishing compound
Sorry for the long post, I’ve never painted a car in my life nor do I know much about body work/paint so please be patient with me.

I thought mixing this paint would be no problem? The answers to your questions can be found throughout the thread, and about a week ago there was another thread something like "spell checked, condenced(sic) 50 dollar paint job" which has it all summarized.
As for the thickness of water, after trying it several times I gave up on measuring and just mix it till it looks right, which to me is like maalox I think. definitely thicker then water but still thin, it's hard to describe but you'll see after a few times experimenting which is the right mixture. Just get it to the thickness where it's not running when you put it on a vertical surface, and a couple minutes after you first apply it, run it over very lightly with just the roller (no extra paint but no need to clean it off) to smooth it out.
In my experience it appears orange peely at first, but after drying it's not (as long as the mixture is right).
