Just for shits and grins hook up another ECU. Make sure it has a good ground. I've had them go out just from sitting. Not having them grounded will cause them to go out.

By any chance does the car still have the factory choke setup on it?

Beautiful day here in chicago.I started my car, let it idle for 15 minutes then took a 1 mile drive to the gas station.I filled up, drove about a block to a stop sign and the car died.Still had a strong cranking battery but no start.I`m thinking no spark. What would u try first?
UPDATE!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!
This morning i go to the garage.First thing i do is put the battery charger on ,it was run down from trying to start.I check to see if i have power on the ballast and coil both are good.My next move was going to check for spark. As i was about to check for spark the battery became charged so i figured i would just try to turn it over.Boom it fires up and roars like a lion.I let it idle about 10 minutes turned it off and restarted it about 5 times.Seems to be running great.?? I don`t know what to think.

How old is the coil? It could be bad

Happened to me. Same thing. The person I bought the car from had mounted a ACCEL coil on the inner fender. So he had to lengthen the wires. He just twisted them and taped them over. The connection got so bad that it would not run the engine, but it showed voltage at the coil. Low amp's . I soldered the connection (after finding it because it was in the loom) and have not had a problem since. Good luck.

Went threw the same crap with my 73 check the ignition switch wire near the base of the steering col bet you find a fried wire red 10 gauge or there abouts. I also had a broken wire up in the main harness push the wire up car started let it down it quit. Usually happened like this after sitting for several weeks

I agree with the coil problem..I had installed a new coil, and after about a week I was stranded on the side of the road. put another coil on, and it never happened again..I remember reading a post about how the coil heated up when the engine warmed up and somehow shut down..FYI..
