I have 2.5" clearance between my existing chrome cover and the gas tank. I think the big cover will fit.

Yeah I'm changing gears this winter and I think I may get the new caps because it actually looks like I'm getting "cap walk" on the bearing cap surfaces scope It actually looks like metal transfer going on anybody ever seen this before? I will post pics when I'm done with the car this year.
