383 Intake will work on a 400 as they are both in th B engine family.A 361 Intake will fit as well. 440 413 and 426 Are in the RB or "Raised Block" Family

Unless it's a 59-60 Chrysler RB383, in which case you could build a factory-appearance 440 2-barrel...

Either setup would be an upgrade, though, provided the carbs are working properly and rod/jetted to suit the engine. The thermoquad would get the nod for mileage, the square-bore Carter gets the nod for adjustability and calibration parts availability.

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.

Your post is a little confusing. What you need is a 4bbl manifold from a 400 with a thermoquad. An intake from a 383 will work but none of those were made with a thermoquad carb. You would need an adapter to run a thermoquad on a 383 intake.I would run a 400 intake or get a holley/carter/edelbrock to run on the 383 intake.

you have a thermoquad , run a spreadbore intake otherwise you need an adaptor .

also not the throttle valve linage to the trans will not be a direct swap to the 4 bbl so you must also address this .

basically I have 1 good carb, Thermoquad and no intake for it. I also have a squarebore intake and no carb for it. Im looking to find the easiest way to convert the engine to a 4bbl and have 2 routes I can go, keeping original type looks. ease of parts in mind, either another carb or intake must be found along with linkage, hope that clears it up, thanks for all the input

many of the aftermarket intakes will accept a spreadbore , that intake you have would not be the best even wit ha spacer becase of the design of the base where the carb attaches , 4 holes , a 70 intake , 666 would be a better choice .

If you have a square bore intake for a 383/400 and a thermoquad carb, just go down to your local auto parts store and pick up a spreadbore/squarebore adapter plate for 20 bucks. You lose some flow with those adapters and a thermoquad, but I really don't think a stock 400 will know the difference. If you don't like the adapter idea, pick up either a stock 400 intake, if you have a local junkyard in your area you might try there, they couldn't want much for it. Otherwise I would go for an edelbrock performer intake. It's pretty much an aluminum copy of the stock intake from what I've heard on here, and it will bolt up your thermoquad.

And that's worth bringing up because there's just soooo many of those around.

400 bbls engines were the only ones with stock manifold to spreadbore carbs

as stated 383 intakes will work but not 440s but once again stock 383 never did come with spreadbores setups

another good option is get a 2186 performer Eddelbrock intake what is practically a copy of the stock 400 4bbls manifold ( althought does have the 383 numbers casted )

I already got an used 2186 eddy intake to my 400 that I will mill the 383 numbers and paint on engine color to keep stock appearence. I know won't be a BIG gain over the stock one, but still will be a plus being cooler to keep safe the carb and lighter...then easier to port too.

Since you have the TQ ready to go I would just get a good deal on a spreadbore intake(aftermarket alum or stock 400 iron) & you're all set. Dont forget the throttle bracket/kickdown changes. EDIT Since this is (I'm assuming) a non high perf deal you could get the alum spacer to run a spreadbore carb on a square intake, it wouldn't look stock but that way there'd be no big expenditure for parts to get you changed over & mock it up to check for hood clearance.

400 Spread bore intakes are nearly free.....IF you pay more than $20.00 for such an intake you paid too much. Then again the adaptor to put the t-quad on the older square flange intake is about the same amount of money.

Maybe someone would swap you your square flange intake for a spread bore intake even up....

And your trans linkage should be easy to find at a junk yard. Pretty much any 400, thermoquad engine, will have trans linkage you can make work.

Funny!! I don't remember the last time I saw any big block stuff still in a junk yard. If me or my Dad don't have it already we probably won't find it around here. Glad we have all the big block stuff in town!

Well, glad youve got all you need...

I see them frequently. So I will ad a disclaimer to my post:
