There is a Mopar kit that has the intake gaskets with a metal block off plate for each side. Part#P4286569 I have used it with no problems so far.

i found some metal intake gaskets that have one side open and the other side blocked (except for a small hole). i'll check out that part number

i am just blerting this out so,couldn't you drill, tap for a pipe plug on the intake side?

excellent idea & an alum npt plug could be reverseable if it didn't weld itself to the intake. I went in & eyeballed the crossover in my streetmaster & it is rectangular & too big to drill a big enough round hole to cover it.

I used them. It lifted enough to cause a small internal vac leak. I took a die grinder to the intake and inset the plates. RTV'd them in. RTV will not burn with a oxyacetelyne torch.

I used the Mr. Gasket Ultra seals with no heat riser opening. #5208??? I can't check now gotta go to work.

Sounds like FEL-PRO Part # MS900411. I just put them on my 318, but didn't use the block off gasket. The ones I got have '90009' stamped on them.

The set comes with 3 gaskets; two are open, and the third is blocked except for an 1/8" hole.

These are for small block, small port heads.

yup, thats what they look like too. I guess I will try the gaskets that i ordered and stuff the openings with aluminum foil. The melting temp is high enough that it should be ok and even if it did melt, theres only one place for it to go and thats out the exhaust pipe.

Here is the pic of a 350 olds head my brother filled with the zinc alloy. This is right after it was done and the excess zinc still needs to be blended back to match the rest of the bowl shape with a porting bit.

thanks for the picture. thats a good way to do itbut Im not going to remove my heads for this.
I see now that the aluminum foil balls would probably be a bad idea. I can see that coming loos messing up a valve seat or a valve guide.

Im thinking maybe Id cut the gasket out around the port and put a piece of exhaust manifold gasket in the cut out area.

A picture is worth a thousand words...Look at the big block valley pans with the blockoff....Stainless steel, approx. 18 Ga. Works like a charm, has for over 40 years. I worked on an Olds V8 once where the owner had dropped the aircleaner wingnut in the carb, he actually ended up driving it about 7 miles. I pulled the plugs and with a magnet pulled pieces of it out of 3 cylinders...Pretty much trashed the motor. DON'T put anything in there that can possibly come loose.

I used those felpro gaskets and they burned through in about 3 or 4 years even of limited use. I have regular hp exhausts on my AAR.

It took those same gaskets only one year, with fewer than 1000 miles driven, to burn through on my 340.

I checked the SB stroker manual & a thick comprehensive MP circle track manual that has tons of fact/figures/details that I will never use & found everything BUT the intake angle

Even a paper gasket in theory would be fire proof with a good thick coating of high temp RTV

I just folded some foil onto itself a couple of times and laid it over the heat riser ports. I then bolted the intake down as usual (big block).

my problem is that the head i have were milled years ago (before i bought them). everytime i've put them on, i have fought with them because the intake surface on the heads werent cut correctly. so the intake always sat up high. it sat so high that the bolts wanted to go in crocked. I could get the bolts in (barely) but it wasnt right. there was just too little space for the gasket.

the heads intake needs to be cut. I bet if I cut it so the ports aligned correctly, this car wiuld fly. as it is, im losing .200" in the height of the port because of the misalignment.

Thats what im working on fixing first. once I get the surfaces cut right, then I will think about the cross over. The last thing I need right now is adding a shim in there that might make it worse. Once the intake sits right, then I'll hack up a gasket and use some stainless steel plates my buddy gave me today

i know. ive looked at all my sources and cant find a thing. im ready to get a protractor out and wing it on an old 360 manifold I have.

I figure someone must know what that angle is.

Are you trying to determine how much to cut the intake so it fits correctly?

If you are dealing with unknowns, such as intake port/head angles try making a template of the intake side of the heads on the motor w/the intake removed. Then make a template of the intake, compare them and adjust angles/mounting holes/ports as needed. Certainley not high tech but will get the results you're looking for..
