Jeff,

Thanks for sharing this. Big E and I have gone back and forth looking at factory diagrams. My book shows the white bushing going on before the nyloc nut and Big E's diagram (above) shows item# 42 white bushing going on where yours is shown in the actual pictured application.

Before installing I tried sliding the bushing over the shaft with a fair amount of pressure but it wouldn't go. I did not want to force it/stretch it to "make it fit". It does make sense that it rides in the cam though.

I'm not sure if you noticed that in your application picture there is no nylon washer at the bolt head and there's two metal washers on both sides of the rod end's and you have a "pin type" vs. a bolt but your NOS Holley kit is a bolt?

Guy

Guy

I was trying to show how the nylon bushing fits in the cam on either Pin type or bolt type of linkages.
The pic of the pin type is one of the new carbs from Holley and came installed on the carb when new.
I would call Chicago Carburator and explain the bushing not fitting on the bolt. Maybe they will send you a new one that fits??
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the clarification. After speaking with Big E offline that was going to be my plan on Monday as if that nylon bushing is supposed to slide over the shaft it may be "undersized" from their vendor or its a case of warming the plastic so it stretches onto the shaft?

Guy

Now the most prominent bolt in center of pic replicates what we have been
discussing and the small nylon washer is over the smooth part of the bolt.

Where did you get those parts?

I haven't seen anything thin walled tubing matching in diameter anywhere?

With a lathe and end mill you can make just about anything, same for sight plugs for bowls with stripped threads, tubing is out there, just have to look.

Nice work, that's talent. Maybe you should be a a direct source for fellow users here on MOPARTS.COM up

I spoke to Rob at Chicago Carburetor today and he said the small nylon washer "should have" slid onto the main shaft of the bolt and maybe I received one "undersized". He's sending me out a replacement for free so when it comes in I'll re-install it the correct way. If it's really tight again then I'll just put it into some Hot water to soften it up then install.

My kit cam in today, $14.95 +S&H. The small white bushing is a interference fit or at least my sausage fingers could not get it on. So, I used the larger washer to give me some leverage and it slid right on with no problems.

I received two replacement bushings from Chicago Carbs today and re-installed it correctly onto the bolt.

The part number on the invoice is K3300 Bushing/Connector Pin 3x2 Linkage.

So any of you who may be missing or want a spare you have 3 out of 4 individual part numbers that make up this Kit along with the complete Kit number.
