My father 1976 in front of his used car yard. Over sized wheels were fitted in there quest for traction. Car was sold not long after this pic, it had ran a best of 11.80 @ 121, I purchased the car from the same guy 20 years later he had not run the car or changed it, found 5.14 gears in it !!

That pic is very interesting...

I see headers, but full exhaust with tailpipes and Peerless bias tires, but...a dial in of 11.81??????? Do tell us more, that was damn fast for a real street car back then.

Window also has A/Stock designation
Is that headers or a headpipe exhaust dump?
Headers weren't legal in Stock in 1973. The no header rule change came around 1975.

You're right...didn't realize that was "A/S". Wasn't Stock really PURE Stock back then??? That would explain the lack of slicks. A Stock Hemi, no headers, on bias street times WITH A 4 SPEED had to be hard to get that down the track. Also had to be FFFFFFF-FUN to drive! drive

Not a Mopar but might be of interest. My late racing partner & good friend had this long ago. This was before nostalgia was invented.
Al Bergler made that scoop.

At that time car's were indexed by national record. So if you came up against a B/S whose record was 12.00 you spotted them the difference. My best as an A/S was mid 12's. Later with slicks, headers, etc I got deep in the 11's running A/SS on a 10 something record. Old El Paso was not a record setting strip. This was an AHRA strip, the RR was either B/S or C/S at NHRA tracks.
