Why stop there? You using the $20 oil filter too?

Whatever the best filter I can get costs is small compared to what a new engine build costs(and I do my own builds).
I love the way my 493 runs and I would gladly pay $100 a year to keep it together

I change my oil at least twice a year since I drive my 63 a good bit. I like my oil looking clean when I pull my dipstick so I never let it go long enough to look even a little dirty. I use Valvoline VR1 racing oil as I have used Valvoline all my life since the 70's. And I have never had a cam wipe on me. Ron

Ever thought about how much time and money it will cost you to clean up and repair you engine after a cam goes flat and puts metal through your engine? It is cold and white here all winter, I don't need a summertime breakdown for a foolish reason.

There are two options , I have been using the 20/50 in my 440 ,I use to add a QT. of Marvel Mystery Oil but my engine builder said it was not needed . I still add some to the gas tank.

I order BradPenn from Summit Racing and they have free shipping , but local in auto parts stores the Valvoline VR-1 works , I just keep several cases of BradPenn 10/30 and 20/50 so I do not run out.

My 1100 hp street driven hemi gets 7.5 qts. of 20w50 VR1 and my dad's flat tappet cam 6 pack road runner uses it to. No extra additives and no issues whatsoever.

I went with Ford 15-40. My friend is a Ford mechanic and said it is formulated for the old diesels, and it has the high levels of zinc needed. It is at Wal Mart for around $20

Ford 15-40. Can you elaborate on that. What does the jug say? Is it motorcraft? Is it Dino or synthetic? Etc,

and as for filters, all my old cars get Wix filters and the 440 in my '74 gets a K&N

I switched to Royal Purple 20w-50w synthetic oil and really like the stuff. Yea it's pricey at $9 a quart but seems to work great in my original 383 engine.

I have been using Brad Penn oils for years now with good results. This article says we're buying into advertising... I dunno?
