I have a 92 Dually with the 12V Cummins. Just made a 1400 mile round trip from the South to Norwalk & Michigan for racing & vacation. Truck ran good the whole trip but going through the mountains was a little troublesome, balancing the temp gauge & EGT and trying to stay at a decent speed 65-70 mph. Truck was loaded with Car, trailer, couple of 4 wheelers etc.... As I rolled up a hill, with the pedal to the floor, the EGT's would get to about 1100 and the temp gage would start rolling towards the high side of the gauge. Got close to the "H" on the gauge a few times. So, I would have to back off on speed to get the EGT to lower and then the temp gauge would lower. Got to be a PITA!!

Truck already has Banks Intercooler, Banks exhaust & Banks turbo.

I'm thinking about going to a larger aluminum radiator, Fuel Pin and 3200 Governor Spring, and a Fuel Plate Upgrade.

Anyone have any advice/tips?

IMHO You need more air flow,,aka a bigger turbo..you would lose some boost down low but make up for it on the upper end..

No fuel plate on an VE pump engine. You didn't say what trans is in it. If it's an automatic a lockup conversion and an extra cooler would help. I would also bump the timing up. You can safely go 1/8 inch and it makes a big difference.

And cheaper than trying to find a 47RH you can convert your 518

http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forum...p-cheap-318014/

As a note, that second link was my conversion thread and there are a couple things I need to mention. My cheap $155 reman converter is slipping in lockup now under load. I don't know if this is just because it's a cheap converter or I may not have the correct pump. Make sure you have an RH or RE pump with 11/10 lobe pump rotor configuration. I don't remember what mine is but I'll find out soon. Secondly when I did the conversion I just wired the lockup wire to the O/D wire so shortly after it goes into O/D it goes into lockup and stays there until it kicks out under 30 MPH. I'm not sure but that may be too low of an RPM to engage the converter clutch fully. I'm going to put a pressure switch in the governor port for the lockup only so it comes on at about 44 MPH.
