So who has the part # for the hellcat bare block.
Or a part # for the 6.4 bare truck block.
My understanding is that it's the same block just machined differently.
Thx Matt

So I called Mopar performance and these are the numbers I got.
68166434AD BARE BLOCK
68226133AA SHORT BLOCK
These are warranty numbers and they won't release the item without a Vin.
Searched the first number and nothing.
The second is a 6.4 short block for a 2500 truck.
My understanding is its the same block but machined differently.
The short block you can purchase without a Vin.

Yes a Hellcat has VVT. Easy enough to lock out.

Don't take this the wrong way but how do you know if you have a hellcat block a 6.4 truck block or a 6.4 passenger block.
I wouldn't know what to look for if the three were right in front me.

Well I assume part numbers of course lol. Plus I believe the truck block is black, the Hellcat block is a darker orange, and the 6.4 block is a lighter orange powdercoat.

Hellcat----6.2.......Did they shorten the stroke or reduce the bore?

The bore is the same as the 6.4 at 4.09"

The stroke was reduced to 3.58 for increased crank strength. The original 6.4 stroke is 3.72.

3.58 is actually the same stroke as the 5.7 and 6.1.

OK, Just took delivery about 10 minutes ago. This engine is nice!!

It is part number # 68166434AD

The gen III blocks I have seen have the liter size cast into them. 6.1, 6.4 etc.

In place of that, this block has BGE cast into it.

I assume right now that stands for Big Gas Engine, just like the new truck blocks.

Has it been determined that this is a Hellcat block or a 6.4 truck block? Does anyone what the differences between the two?

I'm hoping the two are the same except for the machining.

LOL! I will get you guys some pictures tomorrow. Forgot my camera and my shop is a few miles from my house.

I can say that the 6.4 and hellcat are definitely 2 different colors of powdercoating. I also think the 6.4 block is black.

My understanding is that the Hellcat block has cooling jacket changes compared to any other block, aside from machining issues.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.
