Sounds like a corrupted firmware update. Download and do it again.
Also, make sure in the System ICF that Dominator is selected, and that HP is NOT checked in the toolbox.

I can delete the program I got from Holley and
down load it again on my computer then try again..
I got the program from Holley site... I did make
sure it said dominator in the box but the sync page
keeps saying system not matched

Look at the pic. Are you sure it is the dominator?

Hey Mike,

I seem to recall when you were purchasing this system from Monte you were discussing an HP system, not the Dominator.

is like the HP shown above.. I have the disc sitting in
front of me but it says its for a dominator or HP

Hi Mike,

The HP and the Dominator look to be the same except that the Dominator supports 2x O2 sensors, and has a bunch of inputs and outputs that I don't need. The HP would be enough for me, but I want the 2x O2 sensor support, so I will need to spend another $600.00 for that.

Maybe Monte, Rich, or Trendz can chime in?

Holley also has the programmer for $250.00, or the 5.7" unit for $700.00, and now Holley just came out with a 7" Dash unit for $799.00, but it does not say if it is a full programmer...

Looks like Holley is coming out with new products, however like most tech companies, they want to sell inventory first.

I did give up on carbs for the GTX, and like you, I am going to the Holley MPFI that you suggested. I do like the self tuning, and the race programming for the track with just a few button pushes.

BR, Mark

I was on the phone with Trendz while I was working
on the load.... I can say I only have 1 O2 sensor
and based on the size it has to be a HP unit

Well Mike, find out for sure. Let me know if you get it updated successfully.

As for the difference, The Dominator has internal trans control, and ALOT of configurable inputs/outputs. The dual wideband is a luxury that I personally would think twice about if you don't need any of the other things a Dominator can do. The dual wideband doesn't directly offer anymore control than a single. It does give you info to diagnose issues you may have.
The HP is a very capable ecu if you have no needs for peripherals.
I wouldn't buy the handheld programmer.
If you are concerned with cost, buy a used laptop and give youself the option to fully use the ecu.
I just bought a "reconditioned" panasonic toughbook laptop to replace my old dell. It was a touch over $200 and it does everything I need it to do. Daylight screen, lighted keyboard, 6hr battery, amplified wi-fi, native serial port usb2 and 3 etc......

Buy from Rich or Monte. Support would be the deciding factor on where to get it.

Toughbooks are excellent choices, we used them for work in vehicles for many, many years. Failures are incredibly uncommon.

Mike, have you tried letting it connect configured as the HP ecu?

I have a spare laptop... only the disc drive took
a dump and cant be fixed... I use it all the time
for the race car.. the only reason I'm not using it
now is when I had to load the disc when the injection
was new... but I can download to it since the v2 is
old stuff... the laptop I had out there today is my
normal everyday one.. I'll call you tomorrow after I
find out some facts and get it loaded.. thanks for the
help and time

Hi Trendz,

At this point, cost is not much of a concern...I just don't need a laptop, as I have a great desktop and a ipad. personally, I would want the 7" Holley unit, but only if it does everything the 5.7" programmer would do.

My understanding, is once the initial load is made on the ECU (from my desktop computer) I will then be able to do everthing a laptop would do?

The New Holley 7" dash/programmer looks like a very nice unit that will provide lots of real-time information at a glance.

What do you think?

BR, Mark

PS: Yes, I will buy from Rich, as I already made a commitment to him. Regardless, I always make sure I pay for tech support as it is very valuable.

A laptop is more convenient for reviewing datalogs and tuning on the fly, especially at the track. If I had to retune the car at all I would not want to do it on a 7" screen or bring it back to the garage to connect it to a desktop. Reviewing the data is easier to do on a larger screen, from my experience.

I have no experience with the dash. From my understanding, it does look like it is very capable of monitoring anything that you would want, but I don't think it is capable of changing any parameters other than data logging (and anything you configure as an on screen switch) in the ecu.
I'm not saying the dash is bad, but it is not a replacement for an in car tuning computer.
As you said, the main tune can be done configured on a desktop. You will need to be able to connect a usb cable to the car, or have a way to power up the ecu where the desktop is.
If you are buying from Rich, he most likely will set you up with a good starting program. The car will most likely start, run and drive fine.
There are things that need to be done on initial start up, like setting timing, inductive delay, tps auto set, etc... that you will need to do in the car. Not real sure the dash can do this stuff. (The hand held tuner will do these things)
As I said, I have no experience with the dash, so I could be all wet here!
This may give you an idea of what to ask Rich.

Trendz... I'm gonna reload but instead of pulling
the box(ECU). I'm gonna try to sync to HP... if
it sync up I'll have to say its a HP... correct..
I'll call you a little later to talk about the
original issue(fat on idle)

Lockjaw,
The 7" dash/programmer is a nice piece and I have had customers ditch all their gauges, switches (except on/off), and their Racepak, but you should always use a laptop for tuning.
