Hi 1st time post, glad I found this board.

I am looking for someone to help with information on 1969 Floral and Modtops.
Specifically, is there a list of color options/patterns for Dodges and Plymouths in 1969?

Or does someone out there versed in Modtop/Floral top history really know their stuff that can help me

******Ive looked through the Modtop Registry, but still have not found a list of all colors and patterns that mightve been available...

Thanks for any and all help....

Generally the Dodges were green Floral tops, and the Plymouths were the ModTops offered in blue and yellow

But back in the day many vinyl tops of "mod" design found there way on to vehicles from dealer installed to Barris authorized installation centers/dealers, so many/any combo could/can exist

Dodge only used the Floral Top in 69 on different Dart models and Super Bees. Not sure on the Coronet, don't see any listed in the registry. Just the opposite, the Plymouth B body only did Satellite modtops and no performance road runners. Most Dodge cars seem to be F6 bright green but a few are other colors. Dodge only used the ModTop on the roof with normal interiors while the Plymouths also had optional mod material interiors on the door panels and seats. Here's a pic of nos Dodge Floral material and a pic of my Mod Bee that needs the vinyl top put on.

Here is the quick story on this modtop car.
I do have the fender tag, no broadcast sheet. my father purchased the car in 1972 with a black vinyl top, or so he thought.
This car was produced on the first day of production 8/1/68, lynch road. The fender tag does not show a code for a vinyl top at all.
Basically after about 10-15 years the top started to fade and show the modtop underneath.

Could it be that it was a special promotion car or was it a test car to see how the modtop fit on the production line. This is one of the earliest Superbees produced...we just cant figure out if it came from the factory with this top and they painted it black or if it was dealer installed and they painted it black for some reason.

Any additional information would be helpful...
This picture was taken approx. summer 1973, that is me in the picture with my sister, showing the black top

The dealership probably couldn't sell it and dyed the top..

"mopargem" up almost perfect orientation of the NOS pic

that is definitely blue/green floral top pattern (not sure it was blue/green) but the color would've "worked" on a B5? Super Bee.

"promo2u" Is the top under the drip rail mouldings & under the windshield and rear glass moulding clips or was it cut around the clips?

can you share a fender tag pic and/or the VON? 960xxx???

is there evidence of a FRATZOG on the c-pillar/vinyl top on either side?

without them I would think the top was not on the original build of the car. ('68 & '69 Coronets with vinyl tops had them)

Thank you all for your help here....

It seems the pattern is a match to the original green top pattern, The coloring on my top are light blue, medium blue, neon green, yellow, and brown, with black outline....

What is the likelihood of this first day production car, 801, being a test car to see what this color pattern would look like on the B5 blue Superbee?

or??

Also, if this was a dealer install, how would this top, though not really custom as it matches the pattern, come to exist. Would a dealer be able to order this top from Stauffer ? in this color pattern?
I'm also attaching a picture of a sample of a top that i found online from sms fabrics that looks somewhat close.....why would they reproduce this look if it was not an original somehow......that would seem odd.
Im currently waiting for a sample of this material from sms....
Any information you all can provide on this is appreciated.

the material from SMS may be NOS from 1969 work can you post larger pics? scope

WAG - the car could've been a "test bed" vehicle from Dodge to gauge reaction to the "floral" top in response to Plymouth's "MOD TOP". It seems that Plymouth's Barracuda (yellow) & Satellite (blue) "MOD TOP" vinyl tops were available all year, where the Dodge top was introduced mid-year shruggy (possibly with the "F6" paint introduction and/or the spring "White Hat Special" promotions).

Your car's top may have been a color consideration that didn't make production, but a quantity of material was produced & SMS has some on the shelf.

what's the "body sequence number" & "vehicle order number"?

This is really interesting to me, and kind of what I have been thinking, that it was a test vehicle to gauge the look or fit in production, or to send out to dealer to gauge the desirability of the color combination...

what would these numbers mean to the car and how the MODTOP relates to it, curious in your throughts here....I'm learning more and more over time....thanks

Anything is possible, the car may have been a test candidate for the Modtop material for marketing, press type vehicle, dealer/Expo display, the list is endless, seeing that the car's first several years is unknown, the top could have been painted/dyed by a new owner?, or as suggested by a dealership to "move" the car, plus a popular "fad" back in the day offered by many automotive paint chains like Earl Shrieb was vinyl top dyeing/color change for IIRC $19.95

These examples below wear an alternative mat'l to the "standard" ModTop/Floral patterns offered known as "American Daisy" these are the only 2 examples that I know about, and the consensus among a few is that these were "test marketing" vehicles, the mat'l was made by the original ModTop mat'l vendor(Stauffer) for Chrysler
