The engine is pretty much done, and I just ordered up a bunch of parts for the 727 transmission. some of the parts: Ultimate Sprag, Billit steel front drum, aluminum rear clutch retainer, lightend sun shell, max lug pump gears, better servos and accumulator, Red Eagle clutches and kolene steels, new bands, etc. No roller or trans brake stuff, still just a shift kit, forward pattern foot brake car. I forgot to order a rear vent, but I'm not sure I will really need it? I also got a Transgo kit for the 48RE in the tow rig

Sounds like you are just about ready to roll!
You will have to let me know if the shift kit in the 48RE does anything. My 04 still has the stock trans at 100k miles, and it is still going strong!
I put the Transgo kit in my 04 two years ago....it does make a difference....

You have some nice parts there.... I could use some of them
You don't need to move the vent in your application. However, while the trans is apart, I would drill and tap the hole for it, then just put a pipe plug in the hole. This would make for an easy change later. Also drill and tap the front vent hole for a plug (but leave it open), so you don't have to disassemble anything if you ever want to move the vent.
Jim you are so smart

Just an idea. My trans also has the pass through hole for a transbrake wire (plugged), even though I don't have a transbrake. When the case is empty, these kinds of things are easy. But once together you have to worry about metal chips etc.

And this is for adjusting the line pressure without pulling the pan off. This needs a mill to get the hole started, or weld a bung onto the case. It would be tough to do with a hand drill since the case isn't very thick and the contour on the outside.
Man you do all of the trick stuff .... one of these days I might even adjust the bands on mine and change the fluid
