It looks like there will not be anymore taping in Tulsa. The City Council denied the last request for a permit. This was requested by the Tulsa Police Department who feels the show sends a bad message and is responsible for an increase in street racing.

This was for a session that was quite a ways out but I don't remember the date.

Yup Tulsa looks bad because of street racing. It's not all the meth heads and fentanyl junkies running around.

And all the crimes on A&E's First 48
This is exactly why I tell every cop I know that people get bored, and when that happens would you rather they sit at home smoking meth and stealing, driving home drunk or street racing on an unpopulated road?

Actually Tulsa is a nice place, I am sure A&E only goes to the good areas where all the upstanding citizens are.

Whats funny about the street outlaws taping location in Tulsa is that it is about 3 miles from a great Dragstrip lol

Well that's a thought, disguise a drag strip to look like a normal street, then tell the cops and city counsel to stick it in the ear.

It promotes street racing, should be off the air.

They should remove all violent movies by that thought process then.

Whether you like the show or not it has done huge things for local dragstrips. Anywhere any of them go the stands are packed, and that is a wonderful thing.

Same thing here as well. You only need to look at how packed lights out 7 was to see how much draw they produce! SGMP stopped letting single day passes into the track Saturday. When's the last time that happened at your local strip?

But some people just don't get that. Maybe they live at home like the "bubble boy" and don't get out much. Maybe we should all sit around and smoke herbs.

I think the show would actually be better if the premise was that they are a bunch of Grudge Racers moving from strip to strip. If they held these Grudge races at an actual Drag Strip can you imagine the crowds they would have at such an event? It would be like the old match race days when Pro Stock was just beginning. It would also remove the "it promotes street racing" stigma. They could rename the show "Drag Race Outlaws" or something like that. Nobody in their right mind ever believed the BS they are slinging now anyway. I still enjoy watching it because it is the only show that relates to the sport that I have been involved with my entire life.

I can line up "track cars" that will wear them all out pass after pass on a prepped track. That's NOT the point. Getting that power down a STREET is.

As far as the street in Tulsa..........yep, it's out. Locals have been racing at the taping site and there was an accident, that hurt some folks. But they will just go somewhere else, so not sure what that reasoning solves. New Orleans also lost the "pad" for the same reason and the 405 guys are down to one street as well. A couple of regulars are actually considering buying some property and building a street. Before somebody asks what's the difference in building a street and racing at a track.............the answer is that the surfaces are not near the same finish

I disagree, they already made that show... it's called Pinks.

Here is the deal.......Discovery channel approached the 405, the show was NOT created for TV. These guys have been doing this very same thing for over 20 years. Discovery has people that scour the Net and Youtube, looking for potential shows. They came across some Cash Days videos, thought it was cool, got in contact and here we are. Whatever YOU think they should be doing, likely doesn't matter, because what they ARE doing is working
