On my '93 Dakota, when my wipers reach the bottom of their sweep and start back up the glass, I get a thud kind of noise that resonates thru the cab. Is this normal? When I first got the truck, I went thru and replaced ALL the bushings in the wiper linkage. The wipers were actually quieter when everything was metal to metal. I have new blades too. Noise is no different. It's enough of a noise that unless it's an absolute monsoon, I leave the wipers on the lowest intermittent setting.

Of all the issues I've experienced with my 93, I can't say noisy wipers as being one of them.

Are the blades set so they don't hit windshield trim at the bottom of the stroke? Yes. They're adjusted so they are not smacking anything. Which is partly why the sound annoys me. When the bushings were bad, the wipers were smacking everything short of the car next to me and they were quieter. Next steady rain, I'll try to get a vid of what I'm talking about.

I haven't checked things recently. When I did the bushings everything was tight. None of the holes for the bushings seemed ovaled or enlarged either. And, this noise didn't just start. I first noticed it after I did the bushings. It's just more of an issue now because we've been getting a lot of rain lately. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to tear into it again next weekend when I have more time.

OK, it rained today..... Dakota Wipers Its made this kind of noise since I replaced (all) the bushings a year ago. Back then, I double checked thing to make sure nothing was hitting, didn't find anything. Haven't looked again more recently. However, the noise is no different. So, is this normal?

Wow. Really? Bad design? I've owned a lot of cars in my time, and none had wiper noise like this.
