Swinger special was the low line Dart for 71,72 and would have a LL as the vin.

Rubber floor mat, No rear arm rest bare bones. nothing "special" about them.

Here's a good place to start. It's the 72 Dodge data book and it lists the differences in the models.

Im not an expert, but I can tell you what I have researched since I own one myself.

Swinger Special is a base economy model of the 2 door Dart(Hence "Swinger").

From VALIANT.ORG -- http://www.valiant.org/dart/1972.html

DART SWINGER SPECIAL

"Dodge" on hood and deck lid

Pentastar fender medallion(according to HAMTRAMCK ARCHIVES,this is incorrect,No Pentastar was put on ANY A Body in 1972)

"Swinger" fender nameplate with separate "Special" plaque , "Dart" quarter panel nameplate

Bright windshield and backlight molding

6.95 x 14" black sidewall tires

198 slant-six or 318 V8

More Info From HAMTRAMCK ARCHIVES

Thanks alot that pretty much describes the car I just bought but fender tag has an E24 for the engine which has hooker headers and full dual exhaust installed. I believe the E24 is a 225/6 ?

E24 is a 225 /6 whereas E22 is a 198 /6

So the 225/6 was an option on the Swinger Special in 72 ?

Does the car have any badges or emblems on it?

On a true Swinger Special the DART emblem is on the quarter panel right behind the door.

The SWINGER emblem is on the front fender and underneath it will be a rectangular emblem which has the word "SPECIAL" on it.(SEE ATTACHED)

If im not mistaken a normal SWINGER has the "SWINGER" and "DART" Emblem on the front fender and nothing on the quarter

The car you have may just be a "Swinger"

Here a pic of where the "Dart" Emblem is located on a "Swinger Special"

Compare the pics of the emblems above to the emblems on this car and you will see a difference.

I have the broadcast sheet and it shows an LL code and it also shows the code 24 for the 225/6, front fender emblem is Swinger w/ Special under it, has Dart on the sides . This was a Canadian built car if this makes any difference, built for the USA.

Well I'm not a 1972 Swinger Special expert but I bought mine several years back from the original owner and it had the rubber floor mat with the "Swinger" "Special" emblems on the front fenders and the "Dart" emblems on the rear quarters. I was also told it had a radio delete when it was purchased new but a radio was added later by the previous owner. I have attached a picture of my car. I put the rally wheels on it because liked them better than the stock steel wheels and hubs.

My 72 Duster is a 198 3 speed on the column, no PS, PB, radio delete, rubber floor mat. It did have the black and white hounds tooth cloth.

Was that designated as anything?

Some little know info, In 71 and 72 Chrysler built a batch of 340 Swingers out of Swinger specials (LL Vin)

I have about 5 of these rare cars in my registry and will have some more info posted there soon.

71+72? I've read about the 71 340 Swingers (75 or so built, right?) Never read about the 72's though. Interesting!

Nothing to see here. Carry on.

Those are well known though. There were over 13,000 built for US sales. The 71 and 72 were built in limited numbers for 2 dealerships in Canada only.
