I'm looking for a set of correct, restoration type spark plug wires for my '73 340 Duster.I've heard that the Mopar performance resto wires don't fit right (incorrect lengths),is this true? Does anyone know where I can find the proper wires for my car? I would like them to be date coded if possible. Thanks!

I never had a issue with the small block MP wires being incorrect length but it has been a while since I bought a set. I had them om my 73 340.

Not sure if there are date coded wires for 73. There is Aug 72. Here is a place for various date codes

Roseville is a great place. You can ask them if they are available.

Yes, the orange MP restoration wires have a couple short wires. You can see that the #6 and #8 wires are stretched tighter then the others. They work, but could have been a little longer. It's possible that the stands on the 340 covers are in a slightly different position then the 318 ones. Could these wires be made for a 340 with a different stand position? Don't know for sure. They might fit better/worse/same on a 340. shruggy

My car was built in Oct of 72. I remember seeing black plug wires on the car when I was younger.(dad bought the car new) I'm not convinced that early 73's came with orange wires but they are accepted as correct so that's what I installed. I really should have kept those other wires...didn't know that at the time.

After thinking about( in has been quite a while ago) I do seem to remember that the MP plug wires on a couple plugs were short. Sorry for any misinformation. I think I ended up finding a NOS set for my 73 Charger.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.I did check with lectriclimeted.com ,they said they don't make the proper orange wires to fit my car.Burdar,my original valve covers are long gone,I have a nice set of old production style chrome DC valve covers that I want to add the correct tabs & wire loom brackets to,i would think the locations would be the same as your E body?
I did find these listed, never heard of these guys,no date codes though.

I think we talked about this before, my 73 was not as early (November, 1972) and it had black plug wires. I was not the original owner but the car was only 4 years old and around 60,000 on the clock so I doubt someone changed the wires at that point, especially to Mopar wires.
