I have heard the same thing from a few people. I have an 07 but we have smog testing and can't do it or it would fail. My mileage is around 18/19 hwy and 13/14 city and I get about 11/12 towing my 28ft trailer. It's not as good as the old 5.9 but I can live with it. My 2012/ auto gets 12.5 to 13.5 HWY as I live in an area where we have no city driving. I brought a load of trees back on my car hauler the other day, maybe 5k load. Mileage was 8.3. sick of it. My 2005 dually one ton gets 20.4 all day long. Its a manual. The guys who do this work claim 5MPG and 80HP gain. I could care less about the HP but the mileage when gas was four bucks, was killing me. Plus from everything im reading, it extends the life of the engine too. We have no smog testing here. RUMBLON

Never done it myself (I just have an old 24V cummins), but my friends that have the newer trucks say it was worth the money getting rid of the DPF and EGR crap. We don't have any inspections here either.

We do them all the time at our shop. No emissions testing here in MO so no issues. Check with your local regulations before you commit to taking the egr and DPF off. With the correct parts it is a bolt on deal and can be returned to factory equipment if required later down the road. There is no downside to removing the egr, egr cooler, and DPF. Engine will have more power, get better mileage, and the engine oil will stay MUCH cleaner. We typically use EFI live or RaceMe tuners as of late depending on the model and the customers performance desires. You will need a delete pipe for the exhaust, egr cooler and egr valve delete plates, and a tuner to reprogram the vehicle. I have yet to hear a customer say they got worse fuel mileage or wished that they had left all of the emissions garb on.

Excessive injection timing is usually the culprit for blown headgaskets on a 6.7. Keep the timing down under 30*. Also don't block off the coolant bypass from the EGR cooler to the cylinder head. Some delete kits come with a plug instead of hose and may disrupt proper coolant flow to the cylinder head.

So if there's no tuner how'd you bypass it? Don't you need a tuner to keep the computer happy? (Nice gains though!) By tuner, I meant after market stuff. The job comes with a reprogram of the computer. RUMBLON

Thought I would update this. Went on my first long trip, got 19.8 on the highway. Im regularly getting 18.6 18.7 and very happy. The truck is like a new truck. So much more power
highly recommended.
RUMBLON Ok not sure what the cost was to do what you did but if thats all you got I would not do it. I gave an 07 with the 6.7 and mine is all stock and I can get anywhere from 18/20 mpg on the highway and 13/14 in the city. I also get about 11/12 mpg when hauling my 28ft enclosed trailer with car, tools, gen, 4 wheeler and extra parts. Power is good enough for me as I'm not racing my truck.

COST ME $1850.00 and at this point worth every cent. Im getting at least 5 more MPG and this truck finally runs like my 2005 or better. Before I HATED it.

I bought my '09 4x4 CTD 2500 used and it already had egr and dpf delete. I was, and still am, amazed at the power! I didn't get a tuner with it but believe they just reset everything. It gets as good as 23mpg unloaded and 15mpg pulling a loaded 18ft. trailer. I don't really want to turn it up further as I worry about the transmission longevity.
It makes enough power that traveling through the mountains it never has to downshift out of 6th gear going uphill!
The Jake brake is another great option on this truck. It really helps out in traffic!
