Can anyone suggest head porters/cnc porting shops to take my 6.1 cylinder heads to? I need to start getting quotes and educating myself on whats available. Thanks
I know there are lots of good options available(Barton, Bischoff, Slawko, CFE, Darin Morgan, Arrington, etc), but I would like to hear from people that have had first hand experience with a shop/porter.

Member Sixpackgut (Ray) hand ported my Apaches, give him a shout, I believe he has done all the different variations of the G3 hemi head.
Can't beat the price and personalized service.

I appreciate it guys. But Adriel's needs are beyond my capabilities and I think he needs to examine all options

Bob at Modern Cyl. Head has a good CNC program for the 6.1's. Mine were done there by Jeff, before he passed away.

i would recommend inertia motorsports. his porter that does his porting is right up there with cfe bes or barton. dare i say.......my personal feeling is he is actually better than any of those.

When I saw that their port for Eagle and Apache heads looked just like my port, I had to call them up and have a little chit chat. I thought it was pretty cool that we did the same exact thing

Got a quote from Inertia today. If I'm conservative, it will be $2k. If I go more aggressive, it will be $2500.

Communicated with Bruce and HHP today. Over $3000 for complete porting and valve job. He suggested I possibly look at going to the Thitek's as a better option.

the thiteks are a great option and come with a decent port job standard. i run the 2.20 thiteks on my motor and they are fantastic. honestly though, intertias porter can get as much or more than the thiteks on a apache head. might be worth saving yourself a thousand bucks. the thiteks are 3499.00. either way is a great choice. do you already have apache cores?

I've got 6.1 cores. I figure as long as the short turn can take it, the throat can be resized to take advantage of a bigger valves. Not sure how much difference there is in the short turn area between each head.

My 6.1's are 2.10 intakes and have a mystery CNC job on them. The engine runs real strong to.

Not sure how much difference there is in the short turn area between each head. You'd want to get a set of Apache heads if you want to be comparable or in the same ballpark as the thiteks. The 6.1s fully done will get you maybe 370cfm@6 fully done with a bigger 2.10 valve. The apaches come stock with a 2.14 valve and ported can get 390-400 with bigger valves. I just had my local guy finish up a set of apaches with stock 2.14 valves for me and he got 380cfm@6 out of them. The standard thitek head with a 2.1625 valve flows in the 385 range

Seems to me if you could get that, then you would be able to attain those numbers. Again, thats assuming the port shape and the amount of material is the same. Also, I'll be going on up to 0.800in valve lift. Thats my plan anyway so I'm hoping the flow curve continues upward after 0.600. I also just bought a set of titanium valves that I'll have cut down to suit my needs. As is the intake is 2.15, and the exhaust is the same diameter as stock.

As is the intake is 2.15, and the exhaust is the same diameter as stock. i know the eagle heads can have the short turn and throat opened up as large as you want if you are willing to change out seats. i have seen a set of eagle heads that someone installed new seats and a 2.19 intake valve. so i would assume the 6.1s would be the same. with the stock seat the size is limited to 2.10. a apache head is the size of a ported 6.1 head from the factory. just my opinion, but i would sell the 6.1s and buy some apaches. i think youll save a bunch of money in the long run when your talking about running a valve that size.

462, how much power does your engine make? I would prefer a mph and weight and not a chassis dyno number if you don't mind sharing
