Ronnie is a long time racer and good "wheel man". Seen him and others in far worse positions and drive out of it. Just goes to show HOW QUICK it can go horribly wrong in cars this fast. Never seen one slam that hard flat on the roof though. Many know Ronnie and he can be a hard guy to like, but is still a good guy when you get to know him and a die hard racer. Everybody loves Ian Tocher, great guy
Still not much in the way of updates, other than Ronnie is induced and on a ventilator. Ian suffered severe leg and hip injuries, as well as a back injury, but has talked on the phone to another reporter. Another surgery for Ian tomorrow. Debris from the car is what hit Ian.

I live close by and wind was wicked yesterday --no way I would have run just saying...could have been anything but my $$ is on strong wind gust. Brings up a point about life insurance deals--30 years ago when I bought my term life it had a clause where it would not pay if I was killed in race car--no big deal then--but now...Question? who knows what about life policy for racers --where? good deals? good company? Seems easy to insure cars --is there a go to place for a racer life policy. Thanks!!

If you watch the video you can see him way out of the groove early in the run. Not yet qualified and on his last attempt he tries his best to save the run. Not sure on that track but I know at Norwalk once you clear the stands on a windy day you better be ready because you WILL feel the once blocked wind. Once the car got partially sideways the wind probably catches the spoiler and airplanes the car up and over the wall. Spoiler good going forward, BAD going backwards. Prayers to all.

As fast as these TS cars are they don't need high winds to help getting airborne. Here's Lizzie on what appears to be a calm day catching some air, only with a far better landing and BARELY missing the camera guy. Ironically Ronnie is in the other lane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgu0WVt0XUo

Just saw this on my brothers Facebook page. My brother knew him pretty well and I had met him through my brother once. Thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP, Ronnie. Tim
