The Dart's out... It will not be making it. I'm currently trying to find a cheap vehicle on the market to take its place, but I'm not going to lie, the search is difficult. I've been wanting to do this track day for 5 years now and I'm really bummed that this year won't be it. Regardless, I'm taking Wed-Fri for vacation from work so, I guess I'll be at the track.. Are there any ride-alongs? I have a helmet. A year is unacceptable. They bill themselves as a brand name business yet they pull this BS. Time to light a fire under their third point of contact. As I'm reading his other threads, I think the Borgenson boxes he was going to put in is backordered at manufacturer.

What needs to be done still?
Maybe there's time to pull it out and tag team on it. We have the people and the time.
Off the top of my head. -Interior needs to be finished (i.e. seats, steering column, rear seat delete panel, and roll cage). Steering column seems to be missing some bolts or has a bad bushing as there's radial play. The seats are taken out for the cage but we just need to cut and place some of that speaker box material in its place, in case I want to add a sound system in the future. Roll cage is 90% done. They just need to add in one tube and reorder a clevis. -Tunnel needs to be cut and fabricated for the T56. -New pedals need to be mocked in and installed including placement of the clutch master cylinder as my car was originally an automatic. -New brake lines all around as my friend and I did a really bad job. -Fix/weld/gusset K-frame as there's a giant crack going down the center on the bottom. -Install PS box. No ETA for when the Borgeson unit will get in as it's on back order. -Install Engine, radiator, exhaust and related accessories. -Workout bugs. Doesn't really seem all that doable in 3.5 weeks unless you think otherwise. I would have pulled the car out months ago, but I don't have the skills, tooling, or even a truck and trailer to transport it out of there.

I was in a similar situation about a year ago with my engine swap and why I could not attend last years event. I was lucky enough that I was able to do all the wrenching on my own car at my buddies shop and he let me work on it everyday after work. Yeah I would say unless you have a team of friends helping out night and day thrashing, 3 weeks is not going to be enough time to get it all done and road worthy. These things take time to get sorted out. It can be done though, not saying it is impossible... No worries Samy if you can't bring the Dart, you can ride along in my car

Thanks for the support and believe me, I'm just as frustrated as you guys are. Im sure you are the most frustrated. But I feel your pain pretty bad. Like RylisPro says. It could be done. But that's more of a hero move than I can pull off at the moment. I was hoping the Dart was a little further along and would be doable with the time I could make for it with a couple of friends. We like this sort of challenge but the timing is off. Sorry man! I figured and I greatly appreciate your offer, but I knew it wouldn't have likely happened. If you were close enough to Covina, I would have come in every day after work to chisel what I can out of it as I'd feel bad if you guys did it alone.

68HemiB, I got your check! We'll get you squared away on the twisty bits! Excellent. Now, all I need to do is figure out if I have made a grave mistake by reserving a room right in town at the Devonshire. I talked with some [Rosamond] locals at the SoCal LX show this weekend, and they painted a less-than-flattering picture. But then... they're local and never actually stay there - they only drive by. Tim would know the hotels. I think most stay at one place. Still looking for some feedback on where to stay. I picked The Devonshire merely because it was one of the suggestions on the Willow Springs site. If no one want to come right out and use terms like "bedbugs" or "crackheads", then perhaps a recommendation on whatever alternate passes for "the host hotel"? Where do youse guys hang??
Down to just a blue car now.

Host Hotels come and go do to getting converted into a retirement center, or closing your bar at 8 pm ... we will definately void a contract for pulling that crap! This year I couldn't find any place That would pass as Host Hotel. For convenience some are staying at the Devonshire on Rosemond Blvd, east of the fwy 1 block. It works. $90 is kinda pricey for what you get. The Hot Tip this year is bring a sleeping bag and sleep in someones race trailer at the track. You dont need permission. Happy hour and grille all evening. Finally go to bed when you cant find anyone to fix your car, or get tired of everyones [censored]. Then wake up to the sound of race engines and the orange glow of sunrise on Willow Springs Mountain. Dont forget to wear your Race Suit Jammies.

What time will the festivities start? I might try and see if I can prepare some Middle Eastern kabobs and such as a thank you for the ride-alongs. It seems like I may find a vehicle for Spring Fling, but it probably won't be safe or worth it to take on the track. Times and details have been laid out pretty well in previous posts. Maybe go back and reread some of my post to make sure you didn't miss any other information as well. Festivities will start at 2 PM the day before track day on Wednesday with the unloading of the cars and happy hour and grilling followed by a BS session led by a couple former Chrysler race engineers . If you're looking to buy a truck Day car safety issues to cook for is a battery holddown, radiator overflow, seatbelts, loose parts, etc. dependability is also a big factor. It's up to each driver to make sure their car will stay together . I understand about waiting over a year to get your car together. It's not a bad idea to look for a car that's already in a state where you can drive it and enjoy it then at a later date you can resell it and you're really not out anything .
