My brother recently bought a set of valve covers from Arruzza for his new 528 hemi. They are supposed to have more width to clear the Indy roller rockers that are on his motor, as the covers we are replacing (brand new and now junk) cracked because there was interference with the Indy rockers. *SIGH* The problem is, the new, wider valve covers are also taller, .100 to be exact. Cant go much thinner on a valve cover gasket to compensate because Greg from superformance told us a stamped cover needs about 3/16 gasket to seal, no less. Aruzza also sold my brother Indy length tubes (.500 longer than stock smh) for the extra height, but they stick waay out the top and no way no how they will compress the oring at the top of the hole. More $ down the drain. Apparenly Mr. Arruzza will not take returns. So, does anyone know who makes custom tubes without buying high quantities?

If I understand the situation, why not try stacking gaskets? Three 3/16 gaskets gets you where you need to be for the tubes, right? Glue them together and see if they will work.
If need be, you could get a local machine shop to make you a steel spacer if the gaskets get you the height but won't fly on their own. I did that on a 440 I had that I wanted to use the original valve covers on. But the big lift cam put the rockers into the valve cover baffles. A spacer and two gaskets got me the clearance that I needed.
Master, again and still

And the Indy tubes Arruzza sent to use with the taller valve covers are waaay too long. We need a set of tubes .100 longer than stock.

Seems the real issue is you are stuck with mismatched parts you can't use. I always thought Aruzza was supposed to be a stand up guy. Let me see if I have this right. He sold you valve covers that are taller and then he sold you spark plug tubes for these valve covers that he sold to you. BUT the spark plug tubes are too long to work with the valve covers. And now he will not take the tubes back and refund the money for them. What a low class move.. Reminds me of a Hemi I was going to buy from a guy in FL a few yrs. ago. that he said Aruzza had built with all new parts. The crank was not new, but was a used Funny car piece with cracks and the mains and rods were turned 20 thou each. He would not refund this guys money either.

Cut and weld? That makes my head hurt thinking about doing that. Not the valve covers. Cut and weld the tubes to the right length of your new valve covers. Shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Tim at FHO should have what you need, but in billet (for hemis only)
Did he purchase the covers that look like stock street hemi pieces ?
If so they are designed for fel-pro #1629 3/32 thick.
fuel pro 1629 is what I have and bought for this as he has advertised to use. The 1629 gasket is .250 thick. Will NOT work. He even said stock tubes will NOT work with these valve covers. You have to use the Indy tubes. So I bought them from Mr.Arruzza too. Big mistake. I'm eating them. They do NOT work as he said and the covers are NOT a turn key product as advertised.

I'm not on here to bash him. I just want this stuff to work. He took me for a sucker and seen me coming that's for certain. I'll take the high road and spend my $ elsewhere that's for sure.

Thanks for the info.. I contemplated buying those covers a few times. Now I am glad I didn't.
FHO should be able to help you make something work or check HiTech products - they appear to have 4 lengths available.
I highly recommend that you do not waste your hard earned money on these covers. Especially if you are dealing or going to deal with Mr Arruzza. Just DON'T do it. I called HiTech products today. They will not just make you 8 tubes. They need a fairly large order of tubes to make it economically feasible to produce them. I'm probably going to hang these covers on the garage wall and chalk them up as an expensive mistake if we can't make something work. I'll try FHO next week. Thanks fellas.

I'd be cutting and welding those tubes before I hung any hemi covers on the wall... its not that hard.. if you weld
