you need a budd hub to fit your spindle. I would just swap out the front axle myself. I have done it lots on gravel and logging truck to get the big front end.

I would swap the rear out too while I was at it. then you have a truck you can actually drive

What are you swapping into these things? Eaton? Timkin?

I have a '69 Dodge L-600 with Dayton rear wheels and 6-lug Budd's on the front. Both are 20" split rims,I'd like to replace them with tubeless or at least one piece rims also, the Accuride link looks promising!Dodgedon, what tires manufacturer) are the 10.00 x20 you are running? Mine are 8.25-20,the only tires I see are Chinese manufactured. ~RT

We buy whatever is available. The rear drivers are bias and usually Recaps or good used. These tires don't seem to wear out on the rural gravel roads and fields. On the fronts we buy New Radials. These do wear more and are more of a safety issue. I will look at the brands but i think the most recent front set was a Kelly tire.... Its my understanding when talking to the neighbors that 7.50-20 and 8.25-20 tires are very hard to come by. They end up buying a new tire in whatever is offered and most often it's bias. I will look and see what brands we are using mostly and report back

That would be good to know too! up I will probably buy a set of the tubeless Dayton wheels that are made locally. boogie

FWIW Specialty Tires America makes the 8.25 x 20 and 10 x 20 sizes. I would guess the 10 x 20 is also still available from other manufacturers. I run a set of STA tires on a '47 Power Wagon and they have been fine... not a lot of miles though.

The most recent new 10.00R-20 tires were kelly Armorsteel KGR. These are the typical ribbed front steer type tires. As for the rears both Dodges have Goodyear grip type tires. Recaps on the one and virgin on the other. The other trucks have the major brands you would expect to see... Dunlop, Bridgestone, Firestone, General, but these are 22.5 and 24.5 bud style tubeless wheels. I did see a truck today with what looked to be newer 8.25-20 tires on the front. They were Sumitomo ST727. The side wall did say "Made in Japan".

I think if diameter is a concern and you are currently running 8.25-20 or 9.00-20. You would have more options in a 22.5 tubeless wheel and a low profile Radial tire that would match what you have. But new wheels add to the cost... If your trucks are geared like ours, short tires will not help you get down the road any quicker.
