How about a couple nice steel brackets (engine and body) with a threaded rod and end-links (like tie-rods) - or is that too rigid? I swear I've seen kits in Hot Rod catalogs for that kind of thing. Cheers, - Art

I just use a short piece of zinc-plated chain. Anything you use (torque strap, or cable, or chain) is going to be visible and noticable. Unless you go with a solid mount on that side...
The young kids at the cars shows sometimes ask me what the chain is for.
When I tell them I have to chain the engine down so it doesn't jump out of the car, their eyes get real big.....

The Shumacher strap Andy has above is nice, they are $$$ new though. I think mine was $110 for a B body. I'd buy that one from Andy, will look good and save a few bucks I'm sure.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

I have a new torque strap that I'm not going to need. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
I've had one of these on my Dart for 15 years now. Nice piece and looks great.

I'm working on a 69 barracuda with a 360 and want to install a torque strap of some sort before a motor mount breaks since it has the older style mounts. I typically would just use a chain, but I'd to show this car. I thought of using a cable with 2 ends on it, has anyone done this? Did you make your own or buy one? Any pics? Thanks. They have them. Thinking of putting one on my car. http://www.engine-swaps.com/Pages/ProductsYear/67.72aBody.html#head3

I thought of using a cable with 2 ends on it, has anyone done this? Did you make your own or buy one? Any pics? Thanks. I took a measurement... Then took a short winch cable, cut it to size, and re-crimped the ends... (Similar as shown here, but a much heavier, 'terminal end' that requires hydraulic crimping...) Bolted from block to K-frame... Much 'cleaner' than a chain... Still allows movement, but will contain the engine in the event of a motor-mount failure...

If you don't like the looks, cover it with shrink wrap. I use welded link chain also. So it's not noticeable, I get an appropriate sized bicycle inner tube, cut the valve stem area away, and fish the chain through the inner tube. With the matte black finish of the inner tube, it is hardly noticeable.
