I left the bottom of the shocks in the Calvert location on the bars but moved em out up top just like factory but as far as they would go towards the wheels in the same factory channel. Then I drilled an access hole to run a sleeve(like stock)through the sheet metal and used the stock upper shock mount bolt and tightened em up and that`s it..........no welding or extra parts needed. Are those lowering blocks for mock up or how you run it............?

What are those shock plates? extended shock plates for more travel? I put those on to give me more shocked options. Also allows me to use a longer shock

Is there a performance advantage seems like it would make it really hard to get to the adjuster. My car is fairly low

Leave the shocks out back. You're right as far as the ease of adjustment. Also, it puts more weight (although minimal) to the rear of the vehicle. Putting the shocks in front would be better for a rally type of car, where you want as much weight as possible inside of the wheelbase for stability. In back of the axle also gives them a little better protection from road debris.

Is there a performance advantage seems like it would make it really hard to get to the adjuster. My car is fairly low More control, you're on the pinion side and the shock can control it's movement. Any decently fast Leaf Spring car will run this set up. The fast guys have track times and data to back it up.
